Command Spell re-rolls with Fate? Rod of Ruin targets?

By Frog, in Talisman

Can you burn fate to re-roll a command spell?

Can you target players across the board with the Rod of Ruin or do you have to encounter them on the same space?

Considering the standard rules, and expanding uses of Fate, and not knowing of any offiical ruling against it... I would guess the answer is yes.

What is the exact wording on the card (for those of us who haven't seen the 4ER version)?

You can use the rod of ruin on a player of your choice.

No pvp needed..

I think you mean no CvC, V., [character vs character] since "characters" would have to "encounter" one another if that were the limit on the Rod. Using the Rod of Ruin on another player's character from anywhere is PvP "player vs player". I know some people don't see the difference, but it is there when one considers how "encounters" are defined in the game, and that's the difference Frog is asking about.

Yes, you are right JC.

i saw pvp as battles between characters (and nothing else..)

But i understand now, that people have made a difference with words between pvp and cvc.

But i can imagine that it confuse players, because if you use it on the player, it will effect his character..

If i am right, the words are not written in the manual..

We only use it on the forum here, so people understand what we mean in short words.

Yes, you're right, V. It's just the way some distinguish them around here. Although the term "encounter" always inplies the character must be present for the encounter. Without that term, players are open to do anything to each other... each other's characters, that is.
