Yep. It's almost certainly only out of stock so quickly because they only had a limited amount on hand that they're only releasing in order to not miss the release of the movie.

Hopefully we won't have to wait too long because, as far as I know, nothing has made it to Spain yet.
We've got stock here in New Zealand, but I doubt we have very much. I'd like to hope that there's more coming with the rest of the wave.
My FLGS (more F than L) seemed to have a lot of stock of both ships when I picked mine up Saturday night.

It seems perfectly reasonable marketing behaviour. They said they would release it by the movie release date. People read that, handed over cash. They released it.
How many pre-orders would they have lost if they said it would be released in 2017?
By contract they had to have stuff out for the film so they rushed a little out so as not to anger the mouse, obviously they flew over a small amount and the rests on the boat still.

After some bad experiences, I still play at my store because otherwise I couldn't get much X-Wing in at all (maybe 2 games a week), but the store manager is giving me dirty looks.
Pre ordered. Got both on Friday. Still waiting for Sabines Tie and Upsilon. My order for HOTR got cancelled. Local game store said they went OOS. Had to turn to eBay.

UK are getting the Striker and U Wing on 5 January and the rest of the wave 'late January' according to rumour. So probably late January and about March, in fact. I'd guess Netherlands will be about the same.

In Germany we got such a limited run with no English versions available and the Germany cards all had bad translation errors
Ireland got zilch. We're being told early January, but there's a solid chance it'll be the end of the month before we see them. Who knows when we'll see the rest of the wave, if that's the backlog. The Dublin regionals is scheduled for January, so there's a chance it'll have to be played without the new wave, despite it being technically released and legal.
I mean, they're plastic toys, so I'm not going to complain too much about my inability to push them around a table as early as I'd like, but it does seem like a bit of a rush job, and something of a logistical disaster. It also hasn't curried much favour among new/casual players here.
