Critical Hit Repairs

By edwardavern, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hi all

How do people deal with vehicle Crit repairs? Specifically, how much time do you require in your games to repair Critical Hits? Several of the more severe ones require instant attention during an encounter, but if they require just a spur-of-the-moment action then during downtime they seem way to easy to fix - very much a "roll until you succeed" sort of situation. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

I would deal with it narratively and limit the repair rolling to either once per session or once per starport they visit (to emulate what parts are available).

*Also remember that if it is a major repair it will consume time so if there is something that needs doing in your campaign then the players need to start choosing fix the ship and delay the adventure or make do (if they can)

I usually handwave them unless it suits the story to have the PCs spend some time (and credits) on repairs. My players mostly fix things during the combat encounter, and if there's anything left to repair afterwards I give them a roll for each critical. However, if I for some reason want to drain them of some cash or keep them sitting in one place then I'll just inform them that the repairs they made don't look like they're holding up too well and something needs to be done.

I don't even remember if the Core books have any intervals for how often you could attempt to fix a Critical Hit; unless the book says otherwise I'd run it the same way as a Critical Injury: If you can't fix it on the first check you have to wait a week to try again.
