Wave 6 Rogue One predictions (spoilers likely)

By Funk Fu master, in Star Wars: Armada

Ok.my take

Rebels

MC75 star Cruiser - Medium Base, Admiral Raddus included as Commander

Hammerhead corvette - Small base, some sort of ramming buff

U-Wing Fighter - grit, heavy, strategic

Gold Squadron - Elite Y-Wings with bomber, Rogue, heavy, and 2 Blue anti ship dice. Crits may discard a defence token

Imperials

ISD-1 remodel/repaint- Krennic as commander, tyrant title. Maybe new variant (Flagship retrofit)

Cargo shuttle - heavy, slow, strategic, relay

TIE striker - swarm, counter 1. Cheap

Stealth Shuttle - relay, strategic, intel

Cc has gold squadron, so unlikely. Blue sq I'd a possibility.

Krennic as commander? I don't think so lol.

MC75 is longer than the MC80, so I'm expecting to see a large base for it.

Blue squadron as a mixed base squad? (One U wing, Two X wing?)

Hammerhead corvette should be a flotilla i think and I hope we don't see ramming becoming more of a thing in the game.

ISD rerelease like you said would be cool.

Krennic allows one experimental retro on any one med or large ship?

I want and expect both the MC75 and the Hammerhead. I'm not sold on the latter vis a vis Large or Medium, I'll see what FFG does with it. Gold Squadron is the unique we're getting for the Y-wings with CC as I recall, though that isn't officially spoiled. I'm extremely skeptical of an ISD reprint, though new titles may come out in whatever follows on to CC. I expect Krennic as an officer, though I'm open to a commander if FFG has something up their sleeve. As for the squadrons, we might get one shuttle or the other, but I'm skeptical of both, especially since we already have the Lambda, and my hunch is that FFG is holding off on those for a while. Either way we shall see, hopefully quite soon.

Hammerhead I'm expecting. But I also wouldn't be surprised if there's a title for it that does something for ramming. Something like when you ram, the damage you deal is a faceup card, while you only receive a facedown.

With the lead time FFG needs to make each wave I think it is a tad more realistic to say that Wave 7 will most likely be Rogue One stuff, while Wave 6 is most likely more Rebels and PT trilogy stuff, by which I mean Venators or Acclamtors. The Hammerhead has a good chance or appearing though, it will most likely be the one from Rebels though if that is the case.

If they add the U-Wing to the game it would be interesting if they added the Sentinel Class Shuttle as the Imperial version of the ship where both introduce boarding mechanics which could be a Crit ability, or some other kind of ability that either messes with Command tokens, Defense tokens, or discarding upgrade cards. Not sure what but as the two are troop transports I think they would mirror each other rather well.

MC75 is longer than the MC80, so I'm expecting to see a large base for it.

Only by 4m (1204m compared to 1200m). Presumably this would be the Liberty model - the Home One model is nearly a cm longer and I would guess "represents" the 1300m figure from Complete Vehicles.

Given how slim the MC75s tail is, and how small its armament is compared to either the ISD or the Home One - I would suggest it's high-end Medium rather than Large - like the Interdictor Star Destroyer is. Rebels have only 1 Medium ship to the Empire's 2. Making it Medium would fill a gap.

I think boarding should have a once per round effect, like: starting the round after this one, remove 1 upgrade from the boarded ship starting at the lowest point cost. Commanders and Titles excluded.

Then you can get another Defensive upgrade that is something like "Stormtrooper Squad: Exhaust this card to remove a boarding party"

for Wave 6 I just want 6 Y wings to be able to drop Ion Torps onto a ISD Disable it for the rest of the game then use a Hammer Head corvette to ram it into another ISD Destroying them both

FFG make it happen

Silly enough that the movie made it happen. I hope to forget this silly, silly scene as soon as possible.

I think the MC75 is closer to 800-900m. It will be closer to the VSD or the AF Mk2

mc-75 as a medium makes sense.

whenever the rogue one ever will be, i think we will see the following.

rebels

hammerhead flotilla

mc-75

u-wing

imps

TIE striker

another shuttle (either Krennic's and/or the four wing)

notice the lack of cap ships for imps? that's because i think we'll see the carrier from rebels for the imps at about the same time, keeping the same ship count offset

I think the MC75 is closer to 800-900m.

Blame the Visual Guide for the current length figure.

So why do we need more squads? And 3 of them being shuttles/transports... We just got the Lambda so I don't see what 2 more Imp shuttles brings to the game.

I expect we will get the Hammerhead and MC-75. Likely a small and large base, but hopefully the MC-75 doesn't cost 100 points. I'd be cool with seeing a weaker large ship that I can run multiple of. I don't think the Hammerhead will be a ramming ship. Otherwise I fully expect the title to be:

"The Tugboat: When you overlap an ship, move that ship up to range 1. If that ship overlaps another ship, move the newly overlapped ship up to range 1. Repeat until everything stops moving. If this ship executes a second maneuver, it may move an overlapped ship up to range 2."

Hammerhead title "insert name here"

When ramming a vessel, before completing your you may move that vessel up to distance one in the direction away from your ship, then complete your manouvre, ensuring you overlap the target vessel

Are you guys serious?

I didn't dislike the hammerhead scene in Rogue One, but that was clearly an emergency tactic that worked in that particular situation and not what the vessels are meant for. Making it part of the game in any way would be like giving an A-wing a special ability to crash into and 1-shot a star destroyer.

Just stick to the official sources, the MC75 is ±1200 meters but slimmer than any of the MC80 variants so it doesn't look big.

Since they are using digital models you can be pretty certain they are using the right scale in the movie.

If you look at the size comparison in the visual guide it looks quite small compared to a massive ISD, even at 1200 meters (found this image linked on reddit, not sure if it's legal so let me know if I should remove the image from here):

Hey now, Green Squadron has bomber, so I'm sending them on bombing runs into Star Destroyers. FFG really screwed up when Green Squadron didn't have "At the end of the round, if you are at range 1 of an enemy large ship, you may destroy yourself to destroy that ship."

Honestly, I'm being sarcastic. There should never be an upgrade that forces you to ram your target or gives a bonus to do so.

I'm willing to bet Wave6 will not contain any ships from Rogue One, but may contain ships from episode 7. Armada playtesting seems to be about 6 months to a year behind the time we receive new product. I know Star Wars licensees get to see material early but I doubt they had Rogue One stuff in time to test it ~1 year ago.

Delta-class shuttle, eh? Good to know. It's sure to show up in a squadron pack, along with U-wings and TIE Striker. The cargo shuttle would probably make more sense as a flotilla, but it's way too small.

Also interesting to note the AT-ACT name.

Thanks for the photo!

A new ISD title (or more than one) would be cool. They're the backbone of the Imperial fleet, so I want to see lots of options that push the ship's multirole utility. I want it to fit into all but the most MSU of fleets. After all, we've hardly ever seen Star Wars fleets clash without several Star Destroyers present. But that's probably not how the game works, given how the X-Wing game utilizes its namesake fighter.

remember when FFG said that the Death Star would make an appearance in Armada at some point. They didnt say as a fig or just an off table rule (like naval bombardments in Flames of War). so no model on table but everyturn you can roll an attack or whatever.

It's on 2 mats.

TIE Striker

TIE Striker Shuttle

Krennic's shuttle (Delta Class?)

Cargo Shuttle

Hammerhead

MC75

Uwing

I feel like the squad pack would be a R&V style, but smaller. A Uwing, Blue squad X wings, TIE Striker, and some TIE fighter squad that served on that shield gate. That squad will probably get named in some novelization of Rogue One.

I think maybe the MC75 across from the quasar carrier from Rebels. Rebellion gets an oversize medium (like Interdictor) and Imps get an oversized small carrier (like Pelta).
