I sincerely wish eveyrone the best in their efforts.
I'm still (mostly) confining myself to OT and Rules for now.

Front page is getting a lot of ***** and moan threads. I've decided to not participate in negative threads. FFG should set up another sub thread titled whining and crying, move those lame topics over there.
I include "wishlist" threads and "I hate..." or "I love..." threads because those are still not actually about the game and are just opinion pieces.
Here I have the definition of forum for you:
the marketplace or public place of an ancient Roman city forming the center of judicial and public business
a public meeting place for open discussion
a medium (as a newspaper or online service) of open discussion or expression of ideas
Take a guess which one is relevant. God forbid people post their opinions (about the game) on a forum right?
Even more half-baked sanctimonious "I hate everything about this game" posts coming from complete nobodies.
Are you serious dude? How was it sanctimonious? If that post was sanctimonious this entire thread is guilty of the same.

Define "a lot", I count 3 max. I'm glad you've decided to not participate in those threads, I wish some of the other people complaining would follow suit instead of feeding the trolls.
With all these posters with large post counts you would think their feathers would get less ruffled when there's a lot fuss about the new stuff. This happens literally with every game that is about to get a bunch of new content. People make wild speculations and get emotional because their class/role/favorite ability/whatever gets nerfed or reworked or something new is added that introduces uncertainty. Plus you guys are expecting some analysis and "crunchy" threads when the new stuff has been out for about a day. I understand there are some real negative nancies out there but **** you guys are so dramatic thinking its the end of the forums as we know it. I think everyone is on edge because they are eager to into the new stuff and start doing some theorycrafting or analysis.
Here is your public service announcement:
The forum is dead.
Armada is dead.
The world is ending.
The only way to reverse course is to put your faith in a strong Supreme Chancellor.
This thread was a surprise to find on here. I normally find the Armada community to be a bit less...bitey.
I've had the misfortune to go to a lot of football matches. Everyone at these matches is there to watch football. The amount of discussion that takes place is often to do with football, but just as often not.
When it IS to do with football, a lot of it is ridiculous uninformed opinion based on personal preferences. Or absolute nonsense to get a reaction from others. Then there is a minority of serious discussion about tactics, rules, etc.
So I really don't know what you were expecting from a digital equivalent?

It has settled back down to its "abnormally nice" state. There was a short period of time where some people who were worried about squadrons dipped the forum into negatives-ville. But even that was overblown. It has never really been that bad.
There are a few "sour" apples but the bunch of the Armada community is actually pretty solid.
Sour? I'm positively vinegar by now.
... And now we have Venting...
... and venting about venting...
Yeah, definitely living in Rules and Questions now.
It's a mess out there no doubt. Any of you guys have local friends you play Armada with I highly recommend starting up an email chain with them. I learn more from my buddies than I do from the forums and we've got an email chain that's been running for over a year now. Plus it helps you develop/strengthen your local meta.
We use the Facebook group for Hothgary mostly...
But SkyCake and I are here, anyway.
Everyone else relies on me for Forum Information.
Hey guys- just remember this is a game about plastic spaceships. If you derive self esteem from your performance or understanding of this game- reconsider that stance. Sure, people can be negative but it's the internet. Can't take it too seriously, and can't focus on it.
Do your thing, enjoy this for what it is
It's gotten EVEN WORSE somehow.
It's gotten EVEN WORSE somehow.
Well, there is a LOT more people on than a year ago. A lot. I guess that's both a good thing, and a bad.
My impression, after joining this forum a few days ago, is just that y'all are... kind of bored. And tired. I've seen so many worse "offenses" in so many other forums (I go on 4chan for god's sake! I was on the WotC boards during the worst of their "edition war" glory days!), the "trolling" doesn't even phase me.
But I just like to talk about things, even if they're dumb, and even if they're issues usually associated with "trolling". Ignore the troll, engage the issues, wait for problematic posters to post problematic things and then report them.
Eh. I'm weird. Forums are my thing , probably even moreso than Armada actually is (though I certainly like Armada more).

I used to be able to respond to every fleet build idea, now its overwhelming.

That's probably accurate, though bizarre. We just got some new toys, and there has been some discussion about that, but not that many great discussions about them or more general things.
But, thank goodness. I already spend WAAAY too much time here.

They've altered the deal. Pray that they don't alter it further.
Actually thinking of the Robot Chicken sketch where Vader keeps giving stupid commands to Lando.
The really good part is that the activity level on the forum is the surest sign there are a LOT more players than say a year ago. It's been a year and a half I think since I became a regular user...And it was so quiet. Now I can't read everything, even if I wanted to.
I've only been on here for four months and there's been a massive increase in the number of people posting in just that short a period of time.

I totally agree. This is a sign to me of a healthy game.
I'm still pathetic enough to read everything

WOW
I cant keep up. I might have to largely retreat into the fleet forums.
I just wish there was a way to differentiate, Vassal and Tactics post from everything else as those are the ones I care about. I would especially like a way of knowing which posts are about future ships/canon, so I can ignore as I just dont care.

I read everything. I have little else to do on my screen when my Kiddo's off doing his lessons or watching... I'm a speed reader, too - so even blocks of text don't phase me.
I save a lot of time by
shutting the hell up
about things now, as well. that helps me
From a newbies pov, everything seems peachy. Apart from the troll influx, which seems is being dealt with as we speak.
Enjoying my time here so far.
