Artists re-imagine Star Wars
Yeah, some these were gorgeous. We used a lot of alternate looks when setting up the MarcyVerse, especially the shots from the game 1313, which was unfortunately never realised. I don't think 'cyberpunk' was a thing in 1977, but we drew extensively from Shadowrun, the Omega sequence in Mass Effect, etc. Our Luke Skywalker expy is older, but we modelled his look on the version in the black trenchcoat.
In general in our version, tech is extremely unreliable, everything is that much more grimy and grungy. And if it looks modern and sleek and shiny (ie the Empire), then it's even more likely to blow up in your face than the battered-looking stuff.

What's a Marcyverse?
Um... Long story short, I'm a gamer who'd been away from Star Wars a looong time. When Edge of the Empire came out, our RPG group fancied a return to Star Wars but many of us disliked the post-EU material. So collectively, we pretty much redesigned the universe from the ground up, tossing out what we saw as baggage. The idea was to rewrite it as a game for grown-ups, borrowing from modern sources like Firefly and Mass Effect, but without losing the core themes that made us love it in the first place (friendship, sacrifice, morality, etc).
Too much detail to go into here, but essentially a greyer morality, a yin-yang interpretation of the Force, most of the villains are killed off and the canon heroes aged and moved to mentor roles so the emphasis is on the PCs. A four-way Galactic Civil War fought by various opposing factions, a more mysterious and unknown galaxy to explore, and several groups of characters played by 20 or so players in a shared universe. It's been a labour of love for a few years now, a lifetime opportunity to re-interpret something that's always been dear to us.
So alternative artwork, or 'what if?' interpretations of existing material are always fascinating to me (because there's usually something I can steal )

And where does the word “Marcy” come from? Did you forget that part?
I found a few of those interesting, but most of them were not.
Some were silly and campy, and while that can be funny in and of itself, IMO that gets too far away from “Star Wars”. I imagine that there would be some people who would love to play in “Toy Wars Story”, but that’s still a different game from “Star Wars”.
Some others were just too far off in La-La land for me. A feral vampire Yoda?
But there were a few in there that I thought were really good. Thanks!

It's my name... Marcia Alana Jane Taylor.
It's pronounced 'Marsh-uh', which sucks. So I've pretty much always been 'Marcy'.
Calling it the 'MarcyVerse' is probably a conceit, seeing as how we all helped design it. But hey, I run it and keep it all together
And yeah, I liked the post-apocalypse and cyberpunk ones best.
Edited by MaeloraSomeday I shall hear the tale of the Marcy-verse in full. Until then, we shall all wait.
In truth, it is glorious! All blessed enough to take part in the wondrous undertaking are truly fortunate, indeed!
Plus lots of lovely ladies...just saying...

The phrase "lovely ladies" always switches my brain to Les Miserables rather than Star Wars.
One day the grand and glorious tale shall be told, and I shall be there when it is!
Plus lots of lovely ladies...just saying...
Yes, the glorious NSFW ( very NSFW) ladies….
When I get up to date, I should make a thread or something.
If nothing else, it would cut down on the derailing!
