Vehicle beside Tank and ATST?

By SolkaTruesilver, in Imperial Assault Campaign

I got the Agenda card that allows me to deploy a vehicle per mission at a discount lf 3 threats. So far, i have used it every mission on the Tank, which has caused lots of grief to my players.

I dont have enough Threat generation yet to casually summon the ATST, is there another vehicle in the game?

The Vehicles are

  • AT-ST
  • Repulsor Tank
  • General Weiss (but you need to earn him)
  • Jet Troopers (soon-to-be-released in Jabba's Realm, but card's already out)

That Agenda will get you eJet for only 4 points! That's insane for 2x 3 dice attacks

Thing is, my players are starting to be pissed at me for summoning the Tank at a discount every single game. So i am trying to think of a bit of diversity.

Jet troopers sounds like a good idea.

You did spend 2 influence on that card, so remind them of that. It may be a 'discount' price but tell them it is the same as investing 800ish credits. That will probably make them understand why you want to utilize it.

Losing 2 times in a row since i got the Tank did not make them very receptible to my arguments, sadly.

They are so pissed that i killed Luke

What class deck are you playing?

Would the rebels allow you to swap it for High-Value Target? :D

Last time I was playing as Verena against the tank, she stabbed it to death then used close quarters to obliterate a nearby enemy. It was so demoralizing that we didn't see the tank for the rest of the campaign.

I'd like for more vehicles at some point, though- 4 (with two being AT-STs and one just a vehicle by a technicality) seems low. I think something like stationary turrets would be cool (though they wouldn't really be vehicles either...)

Military Might

Imagining Verena stabbing vehicles make me laugh. Another hilarious Verena scenario: Killing a Wampa and using its severed arm to beat nearby stormtroopers to death.

That happened once in my RtH campaign. It was glorious.

When it comes to tanks I like to imagine it's pretty epic: she jumps onto a damaged/dying tank, shoulders the weapon to point where she wants it, and kicks an exposed panel to make it fire one last time before jumping off just as it explodes. Basically a QTE from a video game.

Or she jumps on to an unbuttoned tank, shivs the officer, hijacks the gun for bit, and then jumps out before the grenade dropped inside goes off. Apparently many crazy things are possible for someone who is born talented and then trains to the best. Verena didn't waste any time learning to be humble...

Jetbikes would be fun

Yeah, speeder bikes with Scout Troopers is only a matter of time. They're pretty iconic. They're probably in the rumoured Endor-expansion... Speed 5? Maybe EITHER double move OR one eWeb-type attack?

I actually wouldn't mind speeder bikes. A big criticism of them is that they're too fast for Imperial Assault. I think something like this could fix that:

+6 movement pts without spending an action

Patrol- At the end of its activation, speeder bike must occupy a spot at least 5 spots away from where it began the activation. If this cannot be achieved, speeder bike takes damage equal to its total health

Trample- Once per turn per figure, when speeder bike moves through any unit's space, roll a red die, and deal that damage to the figure. A hero may choose to spend 2 strain- if they do, they roll a single white die, and Trample misses on either a Dodge or blank result.

(these effects would require the speeder bike to move around a ton, and it also requires the Imp to be really careful with how this movement is handled in crowded maps, as the bike could run over his own troops)

I can see Speeder bikes becoming the trample machine that we were not able to do with AT-ST with those 2 abilities

Speeder Bikes? I think I agree with Subtrendy in that they are too fast. One workaround would be that they don't move. Every turn you place a speeder bike, (as it is moving so fast it leaves and enters the board EACH turn), PLUS they CANNOT enter interior terrain. Just my 1.75 cents

That's another possible solution.

I mean, I think we'll see them. Endor is probably next, like it or not, and they're a small enough vehicle that their inclusion is almost mandatory.

Still, I really think we should get a turret or two. I think that's just way too cool of an idea, and I'm still disappointed that we don't have any. Imp Assault is basically a Tower Defense game sometimes anyway (looking at you, Canyon Run) and having some stationary but heavy hitting turrets would just be a masterstroke.

I think the mechanic I am thinking of is from Flames of War and how they do aircraft, (fixed wing). It is the ONLY way I can see it working with the speed they move at. I don't remember teh numbers, but, I think it was around 200+ kph. That would be VERY difficult to simulate on the small IA maps.

Turrets? I don't know. I think a true turret would be hard to balance. Bigger guns than an AT-ST and heavier armour/structure. Unless they made it a less a unit and more a terrain piece/objective?
