First attempt at Imperial list

By Sybreed, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Hey guys,

I wanted to create a list for my brother so he could try the game against me. He'll play the Empire and I'll play Rebels.

Tell me what you think! I tried to give him initiative without gimping him too much.

I would have liked to include an Interdictor in there, but I think for a first game it's better not to go with that particular ship yet.

I was wondering if I shouldn't take out of a Raider and add perhaps 1 or 2 rogues and villains to show him some variety in squadron plays.

Yes swap a raider for a Gozanti and upgrade to an ISDII with ECM. Should leave a few more points for squadrons.

Well if you take the new crew card that adds the Defensive Retrofit slot you can just add her for 2 points and take E.C.M. on the Imp -I Which would be 119 points with E.C.M. vs the Imp- II with E.C.M. clocking in at 127 points. However, I would rather have the blue dice than the black dice, so Deuces would be my choice as well.

Also good but would have to move the Intel officer onto Demolisher which is by no means a bad thing.

The ISD-I is a great carrier, but its major weakness is a lack of med range def/off.

Rebel ship tend to move in to med range with it and blast it to pieces.

the ISD-II force the Rebels to try and stay at long range where it can out gun them.

Because if they move to med it will annihilate them.

So the extra ten points is worth it most of the time.

if it's his first game then you would be best served by dropping most of the upgrade's and teaching him the basic mechanics with the maximum amount of toys on the table

For an intro game I'd do 180 points, no upgrades, no admirals. Basic learn the mechanics game. Second game, go 300 and introduce upgrades on a small scale myself.

yeah, problem is, it's during christmas break and we only have 1 afternoon. I might just present him the whole thing and hope he gets it quick

I didn't ask this before, but it would help to know: Has he played X-Wing Miniatures? The reason being, if he has, then my suggestion becomes rather moot as most of the mechanics are identical and it's simply adapting to the changes.
