Call of Cthulhu LCG ffg please PODs

By alexbobspoons, in Arkham Horror: The Card Game

Apologies double post was not intended.

Bearing in mind the success of the Arkham Horror lcg and is current status as No.1 in the BGG hotness list, can we please ride the wave of popularity and publicity and have the CoC pod packs released so that you can use the current state to make maximum profit impact please? ?

I know this post is in the wrong forum but that's a cheap shot to borrow publicity sorry.

Please ffg I know you read the forums even if you don't reply. This is a great opportunity to please loyal fans and make a chunk of profit at the best time with very little comparative effort :)

Pretty please.

Christmas present?

Please. ..

:)

I support this.

Ffg promised this 2-3 years ago.

What are the "CoC pod packs"?

Ffg promised this 2-3 years ago.

It was fourteen months ago, and they said they'd "gradually" make the packs available via PoD and "may" do the same for the deluxe expansions if there was enough demand.

A quick glance at the store page shows that the following cycles are available to order in their entirety:

- Revelations

- Ancient Relics

- The Rituals of the Order

- The Dreamlands

Additionally, 3 out of 6 packs for the Yuggoth Cycle are available, along with 1 pack from Conspiracies of Chaos.

So 4.67 out of 7 cycles, or exactly 2/3 of the packs, are still available more than a year after the game ended.

I know the Dreamlands cycle is already PoD, don't know about the others. However, if they aren't PoD yet, it means that the player base for this game is insufficient to sell out the remaining stock after 14 months.

If FFG still has leftover product, why would they bother creating POD sets?

And if these packs are POD, then they've kept their promise.

Call of Cthulhu print-on-demand

Packs for a different game with the same setting that ffg produced up to a year ago.

The leftover product is not pod.

Essentially the cycle that most collectors do not have is the one they said they would pod first, so the unsold stock (which is much newer) doesn't reflect how the pods would sell.

Essentially I would like them to do it because on at least the occasions they said they would, so it's care for your customer.

Because all the cards are already designed and the method is print when somebody orders, they have nothing to lose by doing it, yet profit and good feeling to gain :)

Well then, I suspect there may be a legal issue. They licensed the CoC name from Chaosium whereas they own the Arkham Horror IP outright. It's possible that when Chaosium came under new management last year, they had a falling out with FFG.

Anyone can make a product named Call of Cthulhu.

Nope. Using "Call of Cthulhu" in the name of a game runs afoul of Chaosium's trademark. The short story itself is public domain, but trademark law is not the same thing as copyright law.

Since that time FFG have confirmed to me on two separate occasions that the printing of the POD packs (starting with summons of the deep) will still be going ahead, just not to a set timescale. Thats why I was hoping to flag up to them that in my own (somewhat biased) opinion now is a very good time considering the publicity of AH LCG :)

The popularity for AH:LCG probably works against the CoC PODs more than for them. This game lets people channel their Cthulhu Mythos love into a game that is new and can make them a fair amount of revenue (same as Mansions of Madness and Eldritch Horror and Elder Sign). You'd be more likely to see the CoC PODs when AH:LCG is in an off season, or after a cycle or two when the hype is waning and some players will be looking to move to something else.

It was gencon 2014 when they made the announcement for the spawn of the sleeper cycle, 26 months ago.

Nobody is going to buy into the game if they think it won't stay in print, adding more cycles to POD would encourage more people to play the game.

At this point all I need is the first set in spawn of the sleeper as a x3 and I'll have everything. Granted, it's only relevant to me because of the completionist in me, but I'd still like if they did it. Or even a thing where you pick what you're missing and they make it and ship it out in bunches.
