3rd Best Star Wars movie - more ships I expect

. The packaging would have to be bigger and would therefore take up more shelf space in stores. Not good for business.

Have you not seen the entire aisle of Tide variants in the grocery?? Taking up more shelf space is a vendor's wet dream.

My least favorite scene in Rogue One. Remind me how the Empire came to power if their Capitol Ships are killed by, well... by movie-scripts alone?

Because the Rebels used a significant portion of their fleet to attain a victory there.

They lost most of them in the battle, leaving them without any to assist at Yavin 4. They also lost Blue Squadron, who were on the surface of Scarif when the Death Star fired.

And after all that, the Rebels only managed to destroy two Star Destroyers. The Empire have the facilities to replace their ships far more easily than the Rebellion.

Blue Squadron could have easily survived. The blast was miles off shore, and took a couple minutes to hit the base. If the R1 crew was able to land, take off and escape in the U-Wing back on Jedah, the Blue Squadron that was in the air on Scarif could have easily bugged out before the blast hit.

The real danger was the massive fleet above the planet, but the X-Wings are hyperspace capable, they could have tried to jump as fast as possible while the rest of the fleet was getting ripped up.

We always play with Epic ships at home. We play very large point value games with total point values of 480-800. Large point value generates sales. I would think low point tournament play limits sales per individual.

I fully expect Blue Squadron X-Wings with pilots and title cards, and "blue squadron" Y-Wings with elite pilots "blue and gold pilots" and the Y-Wing modifications from the Most Wanted pack. Either that, or it is just wishful thinking on my part! :D 10/10 would be the best pack ever (for me at least) haha.

Packaging is a total non-issue. All four of the current Epic ships have different sized boxes - there's no "standard size" when it cones to Epic.

As for the people talking about Epic lay being 'dead", what they mean I "I don't play it". But your comment tends to get more attention when you try to speak for everyone.

The only reason epic doesn't see a lot of play is ffg own fault. At 100 dollars a ship you have priced out all of the kids who would play it and relegated it to elite serious game nerd status only.

Annnnnnd back to the OP - I would expect to see the Zeta and Delta shuttles, Y-Wing (with more pilots, one can only hope), Partisan X-Wing (even though it was in the background in one scene I noticed), wouldn't surprise me to see a regular X-Wing with Merrick or a pack with multiple X-Wing pilots. Trying to think what else we saw or was alluded to off-screen.

Pfffft.

I would love to see blue squadron variants and some new Y-wing cards.

behind empire & new hope, I think thiis is the third best SW . . . I really expect to see large & epic ships from this movie some time.

Uhm ... there were new ships in this movie? I have seen tons of ships from rebels ... guess I have missed all the new ships. ;-)

Anyone who wants to play epic could play epic anytime in our club, we have a bunch of epic ships permanently stored there. It definitely not the price tag that keeps people away. Epic is just a bad game format. You could hand out the ships for free (which is as mentioned basically the case in my local group) and you still would rarely see any game time with them. Epic games are rather long, can become easily borning and are simply for good reasons not the main format of the game.

Dogfights not giant space battles is where X-Wing shines. A different set of mechanics would be needed to make epic space battles entertaining to me, I hear Armada tries this … though I would not know, the armada models are not good enough for my taste and especially do they not come pre-painted, so I have no interest in playing that game.

Anyway, it still FFGs fault for trying epic as a format, but at least they did the right thing and abandoned the idea for the most part, the only place epic ships should have is a co-op campaign in spirit of heroes of the aturi cluster.

If you are one of the 3 people who enjoys epic, do not feel offended, I might envy you even a little, but it really seems like the current epic format is not the right answer for most players who enjoy the dog fight experience of x-wing. At least that is what the numbers suggest, especially in contest that a lot of people (myself included) own the epic ships, but rarely have the intention to use them outside of special campaigns.

Epic just simply doesn't see that much play.

FFG doesn't care how much they get played, they care how many they sell. And since they usually package them with regular ships with insanely good upgrade cards, they usually sell quite a lot of them, even if nobody ever uses the big ship itself.

Add in the fact that many people buy epic ships for display alone and sell the cards on eBay because they don't play the game but like the models. In fact, I don't have the time to play the game much but I just bought a couple Strikers and a U-wing because I like the models. I'd be all over a Hammerhead Corvette if they release it. One day, I plan to display all my ships on a table, under plexiglass, in a room dedicated to my various collections.

theres always one guy
He's not totally wrong though. The idea of how they used it, while cool on screen was a bit over the top. I liked it, but I can at least understand his point of view.

SPOILER

I personally loved that scene and I usually call BS in David vs Goliath scenarios.

Could have been phrased in a less demeaning way, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

I'd actually like something a bit more polished for the big ships myself. They aren't balanced well for a true battle. Cinematic setups are a work of beauty, but it's a different player culture that would enjoy it. Sounds like the culture you guys have thrives on the 100 point dogfight, but then again, could be wrong. Nothing wrong with any of that as long as you guys have fun with what you guys do enjoy playing.

I'd be very disappointed if epic play is 'dead' to FFG now. I doubt it is, having played hard with the FFG crowd at GenCon with epic ships, but executive decisions come and go and eventually everything passes.

Just keep in mind there are those that do very much enjoy epic out there even if your particular crowd does not.

I didn't intend for that to be demeaning. Maybe...Self deprecating.

I have all of them.

My favorite part was seeing formerly useless ships actually doing something cool!!! I'm looking at you, Y Wings...

Honestly I wish I had more funds to buy the epic ships, I still need to get the Imperial Assault Carrier...among the funds to get the rest of the ships. Ghost....Rebel Tie, U-Wing, etc etc etc ~____~

At least I have 3 out of 4 Epics.

And considering how easy it is for people (rebels, pirates, etc) to STEAL the Assault Carrier, Im suprised the Scum and Rebels dont have cards for them too.
