Spoiler-Free Rogue One Review:
It's great. Go see it.
I disagree. Didn't feel like Star Wars to me, but then I enjoyed Episode VII when many people didn't. To each their own, I suppose.
I enjoyed both =). Really like that this was its own story/characters, but still tied into the episodes
I would highly recommend. Was a great movie.
Not sure if I'd jump on the "best since ESB" bandwagon, but it was definitely OT-level quality in my opinion.
nevermind, cant make the spoiler thing work
Edited by sejestephanFrom a purely filmic perspective, I felt like the first twenty minutes were a real mess. Also, as demonstrated by the Godzilla remake, the director is amazing at shooting high intensity action scenes, but he struggles with everything else - I think that hurt Rogue One more than anything else.
That being said it was a ball of fun and I'd absolutely see it again. Ben Mendelsohn/Krennic is perhaps the best new Star Wars villain in recent years, and I'll enjoy playing his card when Spirit of Rebellion hits the shelves.
