PUU - does it stink?

By BlodVargarna, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Of course VT could be swapped for AT, but I'm thinking Poe is going to want better repositioning.

PUU (100)

Blue Squadron Pathfinder (28) - U-Wing

Fire Control System (2), Jyn Erso (2), Inspiring Recruit (1), Pivot Wing (0)

Blue Squadron Pathfinder (28) - U-Wing

Fire Control System (2), Cassian Andor (2), "Zeb" Orrelios (1), Pivot Wing (0)

Poe Dameron (44) - T-70 X-Wing

Push The Limit (3), R5-P9 (3), Pattern Analyzer (2), Black One (1), Vectored Thrusters (2)

Looks solid. So to answer the title: no, it doesn't stink per se, although I guess that might depend on how many wet wookies you let onboard those u-wings.

I think vectored thrusters is a good call atm. However, you can see how it goes and if turrets are a serious pain, as you say, an easy switch for thrusters.

One thing: the u-wing will fly much like the Lambda shuttle and there is definitely a learning curve to making the most of such a ship (its not just a source of 4 attack dice---you can create serious bottlenecks and traffic jams through cunning use of asteroids and your u-wing approach vectors). Just keep Poe away from them! If he gets too close, you will seriously muck up his movement options (which could lead to his demise)

Hmm, how about the following build for Poe instead:

43 Poe (33), PTL (3), BB-8 (2), Sensor Cluster (2), Autothrusters (2), Black One (1)

With BB-8, you don't need VTs so you can have ATs instead for extra protection. With BB-8, you can PTL off the Barrel roll and still clear stress on a green meaning that you don't really need Pattern Analyser so you can replace it with Sensor Cluster. Sensor cluster allows you to spend a Focus for a dodge and as such is much the same as R5-P9. In some ways it is better since if Jyn feeds Poe extra Focus tokens, he can spend more than one on the Sensor Cluster per turn whereas R5-P9 is capped at 1.

This build costs the same points but is slightly better IMHO as you can Barrel Roll, Boost and also Focus or TL.

I'm addicted to regen. Maybe R2-D2 and VT with sensor cluster on the side? I'm also addicted to PTL PA shenanigans. Maybe I need help?

can't really Puu until you stick sabine and chopper onto one of them, flip right-round, and fart out some ACTION bombs in your poor opponent's face

R2-D2 and Sensor Cluster will nearly rival Red Ace for tankiness. Trouble is that you really want either PA or BB-8 if you have PTL to power your action economy. If you are going R2-D2 and SC then maybe Predator would be a better EPT to boost your damage output without affecting your action economy.

Too many choices and not enough upgrade slots. ;)

Ok so here is a PUU list with some stinky tricks.

Ah, now you don't really want R5-P9 and Sensor cluster on the same ship since they both consume Focus tokens to do a similar job. If you have Sensor cluster, I would spend an extra point to get R2-D2 as that will double your potential damage mitigation. Drop inspiring recruit if you need the extra point as I don't think your ships will be double-stressing themselves with this build.
