I went to Worlds last November. I had an absolute *blast*.
This isn't one of those posts though.
After Worlds was over, I visited a friend of mine for a few days. When I was packing up for my flight, I realized I couldn't find the case for my Surface Pro 3. (I had the tablet, just not its case.) Wracking my memory, I eventually realized the last time I had used it...was at FFG, when I had just finished the Sunday afternoon Hangar Bay.
I had about a 90 minute window if I wanted to be certain to catch my flight back to Vancouver, Canada. I asked my friend if we would be able to swing by FFG on our way to the airport and still be in time: reeeeeeeeally iffy. (Basically, his place made the third point of an almost-isosceles triangle.) So we piled into his car early, and on the way I called the store. Through a bit of back and forth, I confirmed that yep, sure enough, I left it there and they had it waiting for me. (The guy I talked to had a moment of mild panic on my behalf when he pulled out what he must have thought were my flight tickets from one of its pockets; but they were just the tickets I used to go to Minneapolis, not anything I needed to leave. : )
I deliberated, worked it out, and decided I just couldn't risk missing my flight. Called them back to say I wasn't able to make it after all. On impulse, I asked if they would be willing to mail it back to me, but emphasized that I would be -perfectly okay- if they didn't; it was after all completely my fault for a) forgetting it in the first place, and b) not even noticing I forgot it until I was packing up for my flight home two days later! The guy I talked to (I forget his name, and boy now do I wish I hadn't) wasn't sure, but he took down all my information just in case.
I never heard from them again.
Until my case arrived in the mail today.
So...yeah. A public thank you to FFG for once again going above and beyond, even when their customers are rather foolish and completely 'at fault'! : )
