Some of you might remember the Commandos games and the very similiar Desperados and Robin Hood: The Legend of Sheerwood and since then there haven't really been much games in this genre but rejoice Shadow Tactics is here.
Shadow Tactics is set in the Edo period of Japan and you are playing up to 5 characteres that are doing missions in the name of the new Shogun. As in the other games each character is different and has different talents, one can distract enemies, one can kill multiple enemies at the same time, one can lay traps and so on.
The game has 13 missions (which are said to take you about 20+ hours to finish) and 3 levels of difficulties and each level has 9 badges (a.k.a. achievements for replaybility, one is always a speedrun).
The game has english and japanese voice output and is available for PC, Linux and Mac and it will be released next year for PS4 and XBox One, but you can already play it with a controller on the pc.
If this peaked your interest you can download the demo (yes it has a demo which includes the first mission and about 10 minutes of the second mission) on Steam or GoG.
Some reviews/people talking about it:
IGN (8.2)
and a metacritic (metascore 83, user score 7.8) link for those who like it.
Yes that is not that many reviews but you can find many user reviews on Steam and GoG and you can find some reviews on Youtube, but as i don't know those guys i didn't put a link here, there is no review by TB or Angry Joe (the only ones i really know) at the moment.
Why there are so less reviews i don't know, probably because it's a niche genre and a small developer but beeing a german developer you can find some more in german:
Gamestar (86)
PC Games (83)
IGN (8)
And now i can only advise you to try out the demo, the game is really good.
