For those who have seen 'Rogue One' - what's the deal with the 'Partisan X-Wing'?

By xanderf, in X-Wing

Just new T-65 pilots in a repainted ship? Or anything more significant about it, as applicable to this game?

It's not in the movie.

It practically gets no screen time. You see one wreck of it and one standing around. It's really not important. The partisans are in fact described as not really being part of the rebellion, but rather terrorists/extremists. Blue squadron, however, is veeeeeery awesome and also has multiple notable aces. They do the heavy lifting during the fight scenes. Hence, I'd anticipate a blue squadron repaint way before a Partisan one.

Well, rampant speculation had been that SWX58

might have been a Scum X-Wing.

So...that seems like it'd be consistent with that possibility. Are there any pilots associated with them which might further support that (or contradict the possibility)?

Scum X-Wing made possible, but expect new X-Wing Pilots and a blue repaint X-Wing..!

Never saw it saw the ghost plenty though. And the y-wings bombing!

That, and the Ion Torpedo scene had me smiling from ear to ear.

However, how did they fit that many into an epic list? Must've been at least 1000 points per side.

It's in the movie. I saw them. They did nothing.

They were there. Couple nice set pieces. That's it. Ghost is actually in a few shots. One of the Rebel base from above, as they are zooming out, you can spot it in the top left corner. Then it's flying in front of a bridge window. Then it's in formation.

Seeing the Ghost/VCX made me so happy, and yes! The Y-wings dropping bombs, SO cool!

You literally never see one off the ground. The crashed one features in a combat scene on the ground, but you never see it crash, and you briefly see one on the ground as that...

as that part of the film comes to a rather dramatic finale.

SUCH a waste of Forrest Whitaker man

Blue Squadron and Red Squadron were awesome though, and I hope that one day I can have as much fun as the actors playing the x-wing pilots CLEARLY were.

Having seen the movie...

Okay, so clearly, the "Partisan X-Wing" would be Scum. I mean, that isn't even a question - Mon Mothma flat-out said that Saw Gerrera's forces were not part of the Rebel Alliance. Indeed, the reason Jyn Erso was being looped in wasn't to reach her father, but because of her ties to Saw - any other Rebels trying to approach him would be shot dead. So...'shooting Rebel forces on-sight' seems pretty conclusive to me these fighters are not Rebel ships.

I agree it's a shame we never actually get to see them in battle, or anything but wrecks on Jedha, but...their presence and role is pretty clear.

We arent getting a scum partisan xwing. It just isnt gonna happen. And saw WAS part of the rebellion, and they sent jyn to try to bring him back into it. Sounds more rebel than scum to me.

Not... really.

Saw was part of the Rebellion for a while but they parted ways because he was more extremist than the bulk of the rebels. They sent Jyn to get Bodhi because if they sent anyone else Saw would have shot them, and they needed the information Bodhi had. They explicitly call him and his group out as 'not part of the rebellion'.

And none of them are part of frigging anything any more except a large crater...

Maybe we can get some reprints of some very old pilots. ;)

His last line is "save the rebellion", not very "scum and villainy" to me.

Did you see it blown to pieces? I hope it did.

The scene with transport vs ISD was sweet. Silly Rebels, you can't ram ISD with Gallofree

maybe they'll do a scum/rebel hybrid pack. X-Wing Y-Wing box, mostly as a fix for those ships, but ALSO include dials and templates for a few scum pilots.

And Darth Vader's last action was to assassinate Emperor Palpatine of the Galactic Empire, and his last words to Luke were 'tell your sister you were right'.

Here, lemme check his card real quick...

Ahhh...nope. The Force might allow for last-second-before-death changes in faction affiliation. But FFG doesn't!

Saw's rebels might not be part of the Rebel Alliance any more but nor is Dash Rendar and nor is the Resistance. The overall faction is called "Rebels" and the Partisans are definitely that.

Scum fight the Empire only as and when needed to preserve their own interests.

Imperial and Rebel aren't Galactic Empire and Rebel Alliance with Scum being everything that doesn't fit in it. Imperial is the Galactic Empire and First Order, Rebels are the factions rebelling against the Empire and First Order and Scum are pirates, crime syndicates and mercenaries that fight both as needed to protect their interests.

I can see the Partisans fighting alongside the Rebel Alliance but I can't see them attacking a Rebel convoy alongside Black Sun.

I would like to believe they have a Saw/Partisan project in the works. Might be a **** good mini-series on Netflix.
