Chewbo (aka, the Raging Wookiee flips double pancakes)

By Karhedron, in X-Wing Squad Lists

By now everyone has spotted the possibilities of Rage and Inspiring recruit so I was looking around for places to use it. Chewbacca seems like an ideal candidate for an offensive boost to balance his entirely defensive pilot ability. This leaves a spare crew slot which looks a promising place for Kanan meaning Chewie can Rage every turn and shift 2 stresses on any white. All for only 47 points.

The remaining points go on Leebo with determination which makes for a handy pair of ships that care about Crits a lot less than any other list. They also laugh in Kylo Ren's face as he won't be showing them the Dark Side any time soon. This Leebo build doesn't have the action economy of Super Dash but is cheaper so I think Rec Spec is a good choice for the crew slot since the YT-2400 has good opportunities to use Focus tokens for both offense and defense.

47 Chewbacca (42), Rage (1), Inspiring Recuit (1), Kanan (3)
51 Leebo (35), Determination (1), Outrider (5), HLC (7), Rec Spec (3)
98 Points

Does it look like it could be worth flying? Are there any changes I could/should make? What should I do with the last 2 points since I don't see this list as needing initiative.

Snuggling Compartments and Burnout SLAMs are an option but I can't see either ship making much use of them. Tactical Jammers would fit but I doubt they would get used much. I could drop Leebo's HLC down to a Mangler which would fix the doughnut hole problem and save a few more points but the 4-Dice HLC is very tasty.

What about Jyn Erso and EI on Leebo? This way he can target lock or barrel roll as needed and then add focuses as his EI action.

Jyn requires arc, though, and if you're stressing then stuck on greens arc may be hard to come by.

Lone Wolf over Determination maybe? Re-roll and Focus for both attack and defense.

Snuggling Compartment (for when the wookiee has calmed down enough to be cuddly) and Burnout SLAM on Leebo is your "get out of jail free card" for when something gets inside the donut hole.

Very cool list. I think I would try this variant too:

Chewbacca (Rage, Inspiring Recruit, Kanan, Hull)

Leebo (Determination, HLC, Recon Specialist, Hull)

98 points

Also 2 points left for maybe Smuggling Compartment+Burnout SLAM. Very different list of course, since there's no Outrider title. The HLC is still a big threat and the excellent dial of the YT-2400 makes it very easy to point the firing arc accordingly. You also keep the 3-dice turret at range 1. The two extra Hull points, one on each ship, can make a big difference too.

That's what the barrel roll is for. to keep things in arc.

I don't like lone wolf in a non manaroo list. you want your ships close together, not far apart.

Barrel roll is a fair point, but it does make you predictable.

You need your ships to focus fire, but they don't necessarily have to be close, especially since they're both turrets.

It is possible to maneuver around and target the same ship while maintaining a range 3 bubble but why limit your maneuvers so much to maintain that?

For teh re-rollz.

My version gives me a target lock. better rerolls.

A couple of advantages for LW over using a TL only are, first it is for both offence and defence and second you are not telegraphing what ship you are going to shoot at unlike with a TL.

Why not upgrade Leebo's Determination to Predator? Determination on Leebo is occasionally great, but Predator is always great. Double modded HLC shots are nasty.

The idea was to have 2 ships that could ignore Crits to some extent. However I think you are right that the straight-up offensive boost of Predator is probably going to be more useful overall and is a good use of the last 2 points.

Expertise on Leebo? That way, you can save your focus for defense.

I don't know, I really like Leebo with Determination. Wish you could droid the YT to throw R5 Astro on there. Crits? What are those? Determination allows Leebo to last longer. It discards those Pilot Crits, so essentially no damage. Great against crit happy lists, which I think we will see more of with Ren rearing his wanna be my grandpa face in the meta now.

Given what you have on there now Karhedron, I would be inclined to suggest Cassian Andor. 2 points, you can set it up so that you are moving to a position, you can guess the maneuver speed and bearing that could get the opponent into range 1 of you. If you're right, change your dial, if you're wrong, No range one. I saw this on another persons setup, and think it could work here. Take Smuggling with Feedback Array or Hot Shot Blaster. HSB is a one use thing, but if you find yourself in the position to use it, it could save you from not getting a shot that turn. Feedback Array would mean those high agility pilots that like to get inside your range 1 bubble now get punished with one unavoidable damage. Not the greatest when you probably want to conserve your health, but I don't know of any other good alternatives.
