Nebulon Frigates: Are they worth it?

By Kemperata, in Star Wars: Armada

Can someone let me know what you are using Nebulon Frigates for in your fleet builds. Other then something to use to fend off squadrons I don't see the value of using them in a fleet. What success or strategies have been good for some of you?

Yavaris plus VCX-100s - oh boi

Also should mention:

SALVATION

Beat me to it!

Salvation+Turbolaser Reroute Circuits+Intel Officer punches so hard for its cost it's obscene. Nobody seems to take it seriously enough but once you've drilled 8+ damage into people over two turns they start to take notice. Great for setting up big ships to get brought down by the rest of your fleet. Salvation is an amazing sniper.

The basic non-titled Nebulon-B is okay but not great. Then again, there are many great ships in the game you rarely see without titles on them (MC30s being foremost amongst them) and we don't seem to have the same perceived lack of legitimacy for those ships.

I prefer Salvation with SA and Raymus.

Boo!!!

I was hoping for a Wave 5 upgrade that added 1 shield to each side shield. One of these releases we will be able to set a shield dial to 6!!

I prefer Salvation with SA and Raymus.

For me, Intel Officer is non-negotiable. Your front arc shot is your big shot and you need to make it count. With Intel Officer you can lock down the Brace on larger ships or go after Scatters and the like on flotillas. Your ideal targets are the heavier ships without Evades, though, so more of your damage sticks. That's also why I prefer Turbolaser Reroute Circuits to make the shot more consistent (guaranteed crit = 2 damage and if it hits the hull, sad times ahead). I've tried it with Spinal Armament instead of TRCs and it's just not consistent enough and I've tried it without Intel Officer and the attack loses its potency to easy Bracing by the target.

I have actually found them effective even without titles, especially when you group them in multiples. Though I play in small tournaments.

But as an example, I took 3 escort versions with an mc80 lib. Some rogue yt-2400 to block other fighters. My opponents often also had 4 activations.. but 2 of them were commonly flotillas. So it was my 4 war ships vs their 2. And if they had a swarm of fighters..all those double Blue AS really add up.

And then as everyone has said, the titles are excellent and would probably have made that list even better.

Your choice of objective can help them out. As well as your obsticle placement. The new dust clouds could help protect their weak sides maybe too.
