Rogue One: Krennoc's Shuttle, Cargo Shuttle

By MacchuWA, in X-Wing

Are these game viable scale? The cargo shuttle looks like it might be on the small end of Epic scale, but Krennic's shuttle I seriously have no clue. On that landing platform in the storm, it looks positively tiny, but that window would be bizarrely sized and located if it was that small.

Has anyone seen any external material giving sizes for either craft?

I would be game for the cargo shuttle, but Krenic's shuttle is ugh. I mean just how many pegs would you need to use the ship in flight mode?

But really, how many shuttles do the Imperials need?

As many as they seem to need in the films, I would guess.

A-wing, arc 170, k-wing, U-wing, ghost, rebel transport, YV-666.

Uh... Those aren't sources. That's a list of ships.

:)

Rebel transport is epic so yeah they might not be to scale. But rest of that list is to scale IMO.

Most of the ships that have had screen time are now available as models (even the "blink-and-you'll-miss-it" Quadjumper). All we are waiting for is Leia's shuttle from TFA. I would guess Krenick's shuttle will turn up as soon as they run low on new models.

They haven't done the Sentinel yet, so maybe "too many shuttles" is a thing.

Last I checked the A-wing has been retconned in the new canon to be bigger than was previously thought. The rest are pretty spot on in my opinion.

I don't think we need more shuttles, even the Striker troop carrier.

Here ya go, it's an older list but it checks out. ;) Data is beautiful!

LOL - I love all the 'est' columns.

IE., "I'm making this number up because I don't believe the official number from Lucasfilm/Disney"

RedAce is not wrong. The website is off some;I mean the HWK is supposed to be 29m long, for reference, a T-65 X-Wing is 12.5m. The HWK should be more than twice the length of the X-Wing.

FFG screwed up scales awhile ago and while they try for most, more often than not they just get to a "usable" size.

Armada is worse with their "sliding scale".

I love Imperial shuttles as much as the next person, but I don't see the need to oversaturate the game (specifically the Imperial faction) with more shuttles. It takes a spot in development for a fighter instead. We've already got two shuttles that fill similar rolls (with the Upsilon being a beefed up version of the Lambda), so I don't see any need for more shuttles.

I disagree there is room for one more shuttle, the Sentinel Class Shuttle from A New Hope and Rebels.

But what would it do ?

What could it reasonably have or do that the Lambda and Upsilon don't already fulfill?

No, watch the cutscenes, this ship cannot possiby be 29 meters long, someone pulled the number out of their ass and it has been corrected.

Well, you ask me it doesn't have to DO anything. Not every ship and upgrade needs to do something new and different. A Sentinel could just have a larger crew capacity, or be have one hull more (or less) and be priced accordingly. People should be including ships in the collections because they like them and they're cool, not because of what they can do.

The A-wing is to LFL's specifications, also used in Rebels.

The ARC-170 is also to LFL specifications.

The K-wing does not have canonical dimensions.

The U-wing is accurate to Rogue One.

The Ghost is accurate to Rebels.

The YV-666 is accurate to its only canonical appearance in TCW.

I'm on the fence when it comes to something like this. On the one hand, I do love seeing all kinds of new ships come into the game and I agree completely that people should play the ships they like the most. That kind of logic I can get behind and will support. It would be fun to play a casual squad consisting of a Sentinel shuttle with TIE Fighters escorting it.

But on the other hand, more shuttles just oversaturates the Imperial faction with shuttles. While other factions would be getting more fighters (assumingly), Imperials would be getting another slow moving support ship that doesn't add much to the faction. Yes, something like more crew slots, a different mix of upgrade icons, a slightly different statline, and new pilots would be cool. But it doesn't expand the faction. The Lambda was the original support ship for Imperials. The Upsilon provides higher attack to offset it's low maneuverability (essentially a "fix" of the Lambda) and introduces the Coordinate action into non-epic games. The Sentinel would bring... what?
