What's the fun in a game if you can't win with anybody?? I know it's a horror game but I mean come one I think the game is stacked against Daisy Walker as a solo investigator.. You automatically take damage from all monsters if you miraculously get to Priest without fighting a monster then you take 2 damage from the thing and he has 5 hit points and so does Daisy but you by the first turn after meeting him have three and no way in hell can you kill the guy off before he deals 2 damage to you instantly killing you.

This game is really unfair if you wanna be Daisy... Even using the best possible draws imaginable you still friggen die. Cuz 1: You immediately start with the stupid thing engaged with you. 2: Often by the time you 'unlock him' he already does 2 damage out of 5 to you and you automatically have 1 cuz of the basement. So I like Daisy but there no way in hell Dreamlands or heaven to win even the first scenario as her...

An asymmetric game is naturally going to be unbalanced. She struggles now but will be more viable when more deck building options are available.

Well it helps if I realize that Incinerate spell does two damage.....

It's not a flaw that a multiplayer game includes some characters which require teamwork. She can breeze through shroud better than any other character, but she is not a combatant and will get mobbed easily by even weak enemies. Makes sense she wouldn't be great for solo play.

That said - we have a VERY small card pool, and what is not viable now may change as her options increase. She may turn out to be a viable mage character once 2-3 more damage and evade spells come out.

I tried once and she died in the first scenario. Anyway I would try to get over Gathering with 3 experience points to get Bulletproof Vest.Otherwise we have to wait for other seeker/mystic cards.

I saved mind over matter the entire game, just for him. Makes the first scenario crazy easy to finish, especially when you have two of them and starting with the old book of lore to make sure you have them. She has options, but you really have to pre plan with her. I think going into a scenario blind as her solo is mostly suicide.

Since Daisy i one of my favorite characters, I tried the 1st scenario several times with her.

In my experience, Daisy is very vulnerable to surprises, so my approach was to use Scrying to know what was coming and Old Book of Lore to prepare her as well as possible. The good thing with Daisy is that Investigation is almost guaranteed to succeed (at least in easy/standard mode), so you can plan every step accordingly and take time to heal or gear up.

During the boss fight, I usually throw Dr. Milan Christopher to the ghouls to take some damage and try to escape with Blinding Light (1 dmg) to team up with Lita Chantler. She can take the damage from one ghoul attack, after that I try to boost my Willpower for Shrivelling (3 dmg) and finish him off with Mind Over Matter (2 dmg).

Works not always, but most of the time. For higher difficulty I can only win by sheer luck.

Yeah, escaping from the Ghoul Priest to team up with Lita is especially helpful for the non-combatant characters like Daisy. The extra damage, combat bonus and extra health can really be a lifesaver.

I've found once I get past The Gathering, grabbing a couple of encyclopaedias makes her pretty fearsome.

And as for The Gathering itself - get her to Lita ASAP. She has no trouble acquiring her.

Looks close to what I am using, except I have Fearless i stead of Drawn to the Flame, because I sometimes need a small Willpower boost and it gets rid of Necronomicon Horror (and I have no trouble collecting the clues myself). I also use Emergency Cache instead of Unexpected Courage because the first scenario is too short to make Dr. Milan Christopher pay for all the stuff I want.

Get a turn counter, they have them for netrunner and it's really easy to keep track of how many you've taken. You know, as long as you remember to use it

Also, if you can evade him with your first action, he becomes exhausted (no retaliation damage if you fail the attack). You have 2 chances to attack him. Then just evade him again. Use scrying to make sure you aren't pulling extra enemies from the encounter deck.

To activate that Act progression, you have to wait until the end of the turn to spend the clues to take out the barrier and reveal Lita and the Ghoul Priest, so you do have a turn before it does damage to you.

And you can always play the game solo with two characters if you don't like soloing with that character.

I find Doom/Clue tokens make handy turn counters. Set them to green (clue) and flip them to red (Doom) as you take actions.

But I thought enemies engage you as soon as they spawn on your space. So at the start of my turn I can do nothing but evade/attack unless I take the damage. How else am I supposed to get to Lita?

They engage you but they don't do damage until the enemy phase, or in his case since he has retaliate if you fail an attack. You can get Lita by using your three actions to 1)evade - he disengages and becomes exhausted 2)move to the parlor 3)parley with Lita. This results in no damage on the first round he is out. In following rounds if you can evade first, then attack twice - he cannot use Retaliate if you fail either of those attacks since Retaliate cannot be used by an exhausted enemy and you CAN attack an enemy that is not engaged with you. (They do have to be engaged with you to use Evade)

That only works if you can evade... as soon as you drop the barrier you either successfully evade him or you have to fight him. Getting Lita is not a realistic possibility without a high agility.

For Daisy, Blinding Light + Unexpected Courage/Guts gives Daisy a decent chance. Evade plus damage. Or, of course, there's always Mind Over Matter.

What Bigmac says is exactly how I handled it, BUT I was also playing with another player. I used manual dexterity (and I think my friend may have committed an agility card). It's not EASY, but it is possible.

I use focus tokens from Star Wars for actions and to mark exhausted cards.
