Ongoing Campaign

By Spidey NZ, in Imperial Assault Campaign

Hi guys,

im going to test something out this weekend. My gaming group are finishing their core campaign, and want to start the return to Hoth campaign.

My idea is, if they lose the last Core campaign mission, they cant use their heroes in the Return to hoth campaign, because they are captured. if they want to use them, I play the side mission 'Captured' with those heroes. I sort of use it as a way to reset all their abilities, as they are weary and lost their strength, if they fail, they cannot use their heroes. If they win, they can use their heroes again in the Hoth mission

if they obtained hero rewards from the core hero specific side missions, i would remove the side mission from the new hoth deck and maybe make their reward a 4xp purchase.

as for the captured mission, i just need to know what a good threat level and XP to put the heroes on inbetween the campaign. (not too much, not too little)

if the heroes choose not to rescue their heroes. i will make them pop up in the story, if there is a mission with rebel intelligence agents or rescue captured rebels.

what do you guys think

I really, really like that idea!

Not sure what you mean by the hero rewards missions. Do they automatically get that 4XP if they previously had an award?

Not sure I like that, if so.

As for threat- I'm a little confused. Are their abilities and equipment gone now, or do they still have them during "Captured"?

If they still have them, I'd suggest a threat level of 6, maybe 7 if you want an extra challenge for them.

Otherwise, I'd say a threat level of 2 or 3.

Finally- again, I love this idea a lot, bridging campaigns with the same characters using a captured mission is a genius idea. The main issue is that if they'd played Captured during the previous campaign, they'd probably not want to play it so soon. It would be amazing if FFG was able to bring in some campaign bridging missions at some point, for those of us who'd like to play them in order. In the mean time, you have a fantastic solution!

Captured is played (if it is) after a specific mission in the core campaign, so why not use the threat level and XP level from there?

Thanks man.

the forced mission i have never ever played as a forced mission. I think it has a possibility of popping in the core campaign. but i have never played it, and i have played 5 core campaigns.

I think i would use the current threat level, with all their skills. but i sort of wanted to handicap them a bit because they had been captured.

as for the Reward. if they completed their side mission, I would remove the side mission card form the Hoth side mission deck and i would allow the heroes to buy the reward for 4XP in the rebel xp and spend phase during the hoth campaign

II will let you know if they fail the mission or not.

If their skills are reset and they have no equipment, the threat level should likely be 2.

Ah, I understand how that reward thing works now. That's really smart, I like it!
