hey guys,
so I'm soldiering on with my double wingspan + biggs archetype by picking up two Us morrow
problem is, these small big boys don't have nearly the same clarity of form that the K and ARC did
see, those two beautiful ships were very easy to understand
you have a low PS bugger running around being a stupidly powerful control piece (Conner Warden, Braylen/thane r3-a2)
and you have your incredibly powerful late game regenerating carry ship (Miranda, Norra)
and Biggs
with Us....you just have Biggs
the new guys don't offer any of the control elements outside of a far less flexible tactician, and none of the regeneration apart from the incredibly restrictive crew version of r2-d2
the U pilot I feel most comfortable fielding is Cassian, almost exclusively due to his ept (expert handling, nice and cheap barrel-roll). But not only does he continue the downward trend in top PS for wingspan (8 to 7 to now 6), his ability cannot be used on himself
(why, Ffg!? were we worried about the infinite self-fortress on a ship that can take Hera?)
so, that sucks
what, then, do they offer?
honestly, all I can figure is TWO CREW SLOTS (huzzah!). Crying shame that over half the Rogue One crew is pretty bad
What's worth taking, though? Much as I love sabine, I don't believe the U can cut it as a bomber without some serious jank and very situational use (sabine + chopper + title "0-k" into a conner net)
and that's about all I can see until I get the dang things on the table
a word, though, about the obvious Hera combo. The U "boasts" an "incredible" 2 agility from the title, which is its only stat-line advantage over the B-wing. If you decide to run hera on it, though, you get no defensive focus for it (drowning in stress) and you're basically locked the landing position for your only red move anyway. So, while you can spin right round like a record, baby, you're not actually offering yourself a ship that's much more intimidating than a blue squadron pilot. Not sure that'll ever be a thing
At a glance, the U is going to live and die on two specific crew upgrades:
Rey for offering the least invasive and most economical action efficiency in conjunction with the near auto-include FCS. She'll allow you two focus ideally, one for attacking (with FCS) and one for defense with the title). She'll probably prove far superior to kyle katarn on a ship with only one red maneuver
Cassian for offering the cheapest "mobility" option and leveraging the U for probably what it was designed to be: a large base blocker. Only problem is he's also the only U with an ept, because FFG loves us
as for pilots, the choices are also rather obvious (and sadly conflicting with the aforementioned crew choice)
Cassian, for having the only ept among them
for having the only action efficient ability among them
funnily enough, though, Cassian will let a friendly U just pull the brakes all day long so there's a bit of synergy there
thus far, the only idea I've had for this new generation of Biggs and wingspan revolves around jank, which is all the U truly seems to be good at
but I hope someone more creative than me will figure out an interesting use for these beautiful models
