Hotshot Minklink?

By CBS Ink, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hey guys,

I just threw this together but I wanted to hear your feedback.

Dengar - JumpMaster 5000 (38)

- Attanni Mindlink

- Hotshot Co-Pilot

Fenn Rau - Protectorate Starfighter (32)

- Attanni Mindlink

- Concord Dawn Protector

- Auto-thrusters

Old Teroch - Protectorate Starfighter (30)

- Attanni Mindlink

- Concord Dawn Protector

- Auto-thrusters

Total - 100pts

So, my thought is that Dengar is not necessarily meant to do a lot of damage.

His usefulness is to shoots first and strips Focus Tokens before Fenn and Teroch can attack.

This would also work when Dengar is being shot and when he returns fire.

I haven't used this in play yet, but I wanted to get your thoughts.

Thanks guys!

Dengar without the title is a sad panda.

I understand that, but Dengar's 9 Pilot Skill is so perfect for Hotshot Co-Pilot.

HSCP doesn't seem to synergize well with OT. Unless you're plan is that Fenn and OT are going to shoot at the dude that OT affected, and Dengar is going to strip tokens to keep the rest of your guys alive.

I was thinking a combination of both of those.

I never really liked OT's ability because you have to put yourself into harms way in order to proc his ability.

I only actively attempt OT's ability when I know the target will die before shooting back.

I am using OT on this squad because he has decent attack, defense, Cost and Pilot Skill.

My thought was that Dengar would remove the token from the target Fenn and OT would shoot at, OR remove the tokens on potential dangers to Fenn and OT.

If you're concerned about putting ships in harm's way, then I question why you're playing the Protectorate. They thrive at being in harm's way. Plus, that auto evade from being at R1 is better than the extra die the attacker gets for being at R1.

My fear is more of being at Range 2. I think if anyone has played the Fang Fighter, they know that Range 2 is always the worse place to be.

Im fine with Range one if I know I can make a big enough dent.

I guess I'm mainly wondering if the Hotshot Co-Pilot Dengar would be a halfway decent alternative to Manaroo.

The answer is: No.

Eh, just do Manaroo as a bump master with APL, FA and whatever else you find interesting for a bumper. She does not have to shoot at all, you can set her up and get bumped by Fenn and OT and you will still have actions for one of the fangs. If you give her and at least one of the protectorates the Attani, you will end up with two focus tokens and possibly evade or other action.

Really good build that is. I lost terribly to it..
