Command Dials and Command Token uses

By Kemperata, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

I am still fairly new to Armada and have a few basic question about resolving command dials and tokens

  1. Are we able to resolve one command type each turn? I have read that you can resolve a command dial concentrate attack and token concentrate attack on the same attack. I have also read that you can resolve both if only on separate attacks.
  2. If we are indeed able to resolve a dial and token at the same time I can use a Nav Dial and token to slow down/speed up by two speed increments?
  3. Where is the rule on discarding a defensive token? And OMG! Why are special Squads given so many **** tokens!
  4. Can you provide me and my friends, who love to argue over the rules, with where the answer comes from?

Starting with 4:

Start with the FAQ here: https://images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com/filer_public/83/6d/836d1ac1-6ee6-4178-9436-ef00ebaeb6b1/armada_faq_v221.pdf

And of course the RRG here: https://images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com/filer_public/2c/4d/2c4de555-925d-4fde-8af6-02873437149b/swm01_rules_reference_guide_lowres.pdf

The RRG really gives you everything you're confused about.

You may resolve one of each commend type each ship activation if you have the appropriate dial and tokens. But you may only resolve each order once. This is mostly an issue with Concentrate Fire. So if you have both a concentrate fire dial and token you can't use the dial out one arc and the token out another. Or the dial on one ship and the token on a squadron. If you add a die with the dial you must decide then to use the token even though you may not end up wishing to re-roll anything. You are not required to re-roll anything if you use the token but lose the option for the rest of your attack(s) if you don't.

Yes, you can use a dial and a token to change speed by two.

A "green" defense token is "readied." It is flipped to red (exhausted) when used. If a red (exhausted) token is used it is discarded and unavailable for the remainder of the game.

1. You can resolve multiple command types during a single activation, but you can only resolve each of them once . If you spend a dial and a token of the same type, it must be simultaneously and for the same action.

2. Yes, that's exactly how it works.

3. In the rulebook (page 4, "Defense Tokens": Defense tokens begin the game on their readied side. When a readied defense token is spent, it is flipped to its exhausted side. When an exhausted defense token is spent, it is discarded. )

4. Again, from the rulebook . Your friends will love it.
