Wording of Mos Eisly Spaceport Battlefield

By Mace Windu, in Star Wars: Destiny

Question:

Using the Mos Eisly Space Port if you claim the battlefield does that mean you have to actually return an upgrade?

It doesn’t have a "may" in the text of the card and feels like its worded in such a way that you have to do it.

Feels like a very interesting way of not getting your battle field selected, say if you really want to go first and get shields as your opponent may not want to have it as the battlefield even if they win the roll off.

Sure if you have Sith Holocron in play and you missed out on the roll its great for getting free resources as well so its not completely useless

Battlefields have claim abilities on them, preceded by the

word “Claim” in bold. These abilities are optional and may be

resolved by the player who claims the battlefield.

Well that’s a shame (really should read the RRG more thoroughly next time)

I guess its still an interesting pick if you have a slower activating deck (like 2 x stormy , nightsitser & Bala Tik) and its more likely that your opponent will finish their turns actions before you most turns and you don’t want to give them any additional advantage.

The key is that you may claim so you don't have to

I take that one because I have 3 characters and will almost never claim the battlefield. I don't want my opponent getting any bonus

works well with things like holocrons, hunker down and any other 0 cost upgrades, it also allows you to return impact cards like jedi robes or comm links to hand for another bonus or can just put a good upgrade on a dying character knowing if hes about to die you can loot it before he dies by sending it back to hand, not a bad battlefield just overlooked
