Royally ticked off *Warning, rant*

By Ebak, in X-Wing

So as we know, FFG has a habit of being unreliable with their release dates.

"Until then, keep your eyes open for more information about the new Rogue One starship expansions coming to X-Wing . Along with all the rest of Wave X, the U-wing Expansion Pack and TIE Striker Expansion Pack are scheduled to arrive at retailers before the movie releases!"

"Rogue One is coming soon, and the TIE Striker Expansion Pack is coming even sooner!"

Direct quotes from articles they have been releasing about the TIE Striker, and U-Wing. What they failed to mention, is that this only applies to people in the US of A.

They made bold statements, and they can't even stick to those bold statements when it comes to their international distribution. Now I wouldn't mind if it was a week or so, however, we aren't getting our stuff until the other side of Christmas.

What the hell? This has seriously shaken my faith in FFG and Asmodee when a lot of us in the local group were looking forward to getting these for Christmas, especially considering our stock for a previous FFG product arrived early, yet we had to wait for the US to get theirs before we could officially distribute it.

Not totally relevant, but I have a sneaking suspicion that no one is getting the rest of Wave 10 before Christmas.

The rule is, unless the release is DIRECTLY tied to a movie release (unless you are outside the US apparently), add a quarter on to what the original announcement indicates the release date is.

Good thing I live in the US. I'll be buying mine at midnight tomorrow.

I think we all expected that, that's why they have vague quarter release dates mentioned. Q1, Q2 etc. I am fine with that.

I am not fine, when they give a specific timescale (IE, before Rogue One), and only uphold that in one country because then they are technically correct. No, either everyone gets it, or no one get's it.

Asmodee and the mouse, put your anger where it belongs. When it was in ffg's court, no one got their things until everyone could.

Nonsense, it quite often took a lot longer for products to reach non-US stores than it does now. And Disney has no input here at all.

Okay, calm now, just needed to get that out of my system. :)

I haven't even gotten my Heroes of the Resistance yet... so yea. That.

Supposed to be here on the 15th in Canada. Going to see the movie later that night too.

If it makes you feel any better, I dont think the US players are going to have them by the movie either. Still waiting for the announcement, and I'm within a 20 minute drive of FFG game center.

Has anyone else heard different? Maybe I'll drop by there later this week...

Fascinating... as a resident of the contiguous United States, I don't share your ire.

You're mad about global release not being held as firm policy... I'm mad I now have to wait for everything to make it all the way around the world before I can get my ships which have been sitting in the US for weeks. Obvious solution is teleporters.

You've no reason to, so I understand that. :)

I'm excited to see it, cannot wait for the film.

First world problems.

My FLGS has already confirmed we won't be getting the Striker and U wing tomorrow.

I don't mind them missing deadlines.

I mind them breaking promises.

First world problems.

But yeah totally this.

This too.

No, either everyone gets it, or no one get's it.

I can't tell if this is communism, or just a spoiled brat!?

You think it is fair for it to sit in a warehouse, or on a back shelf, within an arms reach, taunting us. Just because you can't play with it at the same time. Should we all wait until you actually have the ship in hand before we open them? Why are you so important that everyone else has to suffer? Should I wait to see Rouge one until after you? I am about to eat lunch, is that ok with you?

Get over yourself.

Not really communism, more fair opportunity. If both were out at the same time in locations I'd have no problem with it, especially since FFGs articles do state that we would have them before Rogue One, however, that was not the 100% truth. They have broken their promise, again.

The issue I have is that there has been a precedent set by street dates and such where people have had to wait for a particular date to get said items. For something like this it should be a worldwide simultaneous release, if it was a week late, I'd understand. We are talking just under 3 weeks though, that's a significant time difference, especially during a regional season.

As I have previously stated, I was upset and disappointed, have stated my argument, and have calmed down. It is just a game after all. It does not change the facts:

  • FFG's articles say we'd have them before Rogue One.
  • We aren't getting them before Rogue One.

Yeah, I don't live in the US either.

Fortunately, my Wave 10 purchases are shipping now:

Good thing I live in the US. I'll be buying mine at midnight tomorrow.

That is still 8 hours later than I am going to watch this movie :P

Now for the FFG releases … they still have not even shipped the german prints of HotR (which makes HotR not tournament legal here), so no hope to get the striker this year here ^.^

Wow, that's pretty poor, no disrespect intended.

Umm, yes. There's a tournament tomorrow (Wednesday) at the FFG Game Center that goes until midnight because the Tie Striker and UWing will be available for purchase at that time. Also, another local store has posted pictures of their stock on Facebook and said they will be available for purchase on Thursday. Are you not part of the TCX-Wing Facebook page?

Something like 800 million people are starving and homeboy is crying because his plastic toys will be a couple weeks late. Bigger issues dude.

Is it really FFG's fault and not your local distributor?

Plenty of places outsie of US get the ships at December 15.

Fair point actually.
