Fractalsponge Victory compared to Armada Victory

By Ironlord, in Star Wars: Armada

Not I.

I'm a fan of Fractalsponge's work, but this is out there jerry.

I like the Vic we got just fine. There are some details of FS's that I like, but overall I like what we have better.

It's a cool rendering, but it looks like someone stretched some of the details out. Ever play Spore and create a critter with super long arms or legs? That's the vibe I'm getting with some of the angles.

Plus I'm sure all the little antennas would break off before I opened the package...

It looks a little too triangular, ya know?

I like the side view, but it really is too triangular for my tastes. How would making that work with those tiny spines on it side. Now the render is great and cool to see the sides open up.

I liked everything but the spines ruined Fractals for me. I can get from a practical point why he would add them, because if you think about it without them the "wings" can't really *close* which would mean there would be no need for them to *open*, but still, the look is off for me.

I'm a huge fan of the fractal one. .. very nice indeed

I don't even think that level of detail is achievable on the scale of the pieces we have now.

Really dislike the Fractal design. Does not feel Imperial. His version is more akin to the Star Destroyers seen in the EU time period 40 years post Battle of Yavin.

I like the look of this a lot, it's what I always felt a vsd should look like back when I was reading Star Wars books 20 years ago, also reminds me of the vsd from the old complete guide to Star Wars spaceships and vehicles.

This was done on commission after Fractal redesigned the Dreadnought.

Fractal's Vic is a re-tread on the design based on everything that has been released since the VSD's inital debut. This means including a lot of influences from the Venator to make the VSD a contemporary, rather than the mini-clone of the Imperial Star Destroyer that we have in Armada.

While some of the details are a little odd to me personally (the straight triangular profile, anemic hull sections, no mast-antenna), I like it as a permutation. I certainly like how he factored in the open-wing configuration as a natural mechanism of the ship.

If you can, go check out his Dreadnought as well.

It reminds me a little of the second Tagge Battlecruiser from the early Marvel comics:
