Aren't we in a thread for discussing the movie fot those of us who have seen it? I assumed spoilers were to be expected?
I think key plot points could still be hidden by spoiler tags. Consider it a common courtesy.

Which is why nobody else who has seen it are spoiling anything?
Don't be a jerk, edit it out please.
Yeah, safe to say at this point that if you haven't seen it, and you don't want to accidentally spoil anything for yourself, you shouldn't be here. I added a warning on the first post too.
Excellent movie, I liked it a lot. Great to see Dutch and Garven again.
Amazing movie. I honestly think it's the best SW film to date. Pitch perfect on just about everything. The Tarkin and Leia CGI could have been slightly better, especially Tarkin, but that's insignificant next to the overall experience.
And it looks like the Imperials at the very least have some new ships coming.

My favorite inclusion, if I'm going to be honest.
It's such a small, subtle nod to the original film, and ridiculously simple since it's just reused footage and dialog, but I thought it was a great touch to those characters and gave it some continuity with A New Hope.
Wasn't a huge fan of the Red Five thing. That seemed a little silly. I didn't hate it , but I mean, there were are lot of ships getting blown up. It was safe to say there were going to be some openings in Red Squadron without having to so blatantly kill off a guy named Red Five.
Oh, also, for those who noticed the Ghost in the trailer
I tried to watch for you guys, but I'm not sure it's ever actually even shown again after that scene. And there's certainly no reference to characters from Rebels, nor any final fate to it that I can recall

When they walk in rebel hangar there is "calling captain syndylla" or something line coming from the speakers.
HOLY **** THIS MOVIE WAS SO ******* GOOD I CAN'T EVEN
Just saw it : it's good.

I spotted the Ghost is in at least two more scenes, in one of them I could swear I've heard the dorsal turret sound. There is also "General Syndulla report to (somewhere)" on Yavin
eMeM is correct, you see it twice and Hera is called over the tannoy.
Sorry, I meant no reference to the characters during the battle, or any indication of their fate. People had been speculating we might have heard them refer to the characters or the name of the ship during the space battle. But I didn't notice any of that. The Ghost was basically like including Red Leader and Gold Leader. Just a friendly nod to other Star Wars properties for the fans. But it's not explicitly named as the Ghost, nor any direct indication of who is aboard that ship, so anyone hoping for that will be disappointed. I must have missed the other shots of it. I'm guess it must have been in the background? I feel like I would have noticed any tracking shots that featured it.
The Tantive IV escaping the battle wasn't the best narrative choice, especially given some of the contextual cues of A New Hope (eg, Princess Leia trying to convince Vader she was on a diplomatic mission, on a ship that would have just been spotted at a battle).
I think a better end to the movie would have been the escaped Rebels handing over the plans to Leia as the Tantive IV met them at Tattooine, then Vader's star destroyer emerging from hyperspace and chasing Leia's.
In fact, imagine the same scene with her being handed the plans, and then this exchange:
"What is it?"
"Hope"
<cut to a star destroyer exiting hyperspace behind them>
Don't open the spoiler tag unless you've seen the movie. Seriously.
Just seen it. That was amazing, and brutal. I went in expecting it to be somewhat brutal, but wow.
It really does highlight just how deep in trouble the Rebellion is at the start of Episode IV.
I also loved the callouts to Episode IV with Garven and Dutch. A bit of a shame that Porkins wasn't there, would have been good to see him do something other than explode.
Just saw it and love it!
I didn't notice the Ghost but did love all the other little inclusions Red and Gold leader and
r2-d2+c-3po and Ponda Baba + dr Evasan!
Oh and on-topic for X-Wing, the tie Striker wasn't much special in the movie but i loved the U-wing!
In-cre-dible!
On the topic of X-wing
New ships spotted: Striker-like dropship, large cargo barge.
Ships not spotted: SWX58.
Ships almost not spotted: Partisan X-wing. One crashed, a nose of another one visible for like two seconds in the scene in which Rebels try to escape when Jedha city goes Alderaan. Didn't notice any in flight, let alone combat
Just came back from the cinema. Awesome. Pure Awesome.
Best SW movie for me. And best Vader scene.
I would have given anything for there to have been a kyle and Jan reference. They should have put the hwk-290 in by the ghost.
Absolutely amazing. Far exceeded my already high expectations. So happy with it.
...and that ending!
So happy that they made this all happen!
this is the first Star Wars movie I might have to wait till my kids get a little older before I let them see it
High lights for me
"you best watch your self"
"General Syndulla please report....."
the blind guy shooting down a tie
every bit of Tarkin
"Gold Leader"
"Red Leader"
"Red Five"
The Hammer Head Corvette
but by far the best of all
VADER SHOWING EVERYONE WHOS BOSS
