PS : some online retailers still keep the old Ilian Warpack MC03 and MC04 before the change of packaging format in june ! So I don't know with which reference Karak will be released nor the Ice Golem.

I would guess they were out in late December. Maybe even by the 24th.

Where's the info on what a Golem of Ice is? Sounds pretty clear but don't remember anything like that in Warzone or MC rpg.

There is a Golem of Ice in the 3rd edition of Warzone released in 2004 called Ultimate Warzone (UWZ). Which is in my opinion the best Warzone rules, since its a healthy mix between 1st edition and 2nd edition. With alot more different unit types. The Golem of Ice in UWZ is available for The Cults only.

I don't know if this is old news or not, but I saw a picture w/ product details of the February map pack release and it looks fantastic. Worth every penny.

Hopefully it's Tide of Iron high quality cardboard maps. Just as many of us were requesting on the old forums. It's the right way for MC!

I've ordered every release that is out now, but can't wait to see the Ilian figs! Since it's a new company making the figs and all I mean.

Nighthawk, did you say there is a new company making the figs? So are we expecting an improvement in the quality? I am perfecty happy with them now but better is always good.

I think Nighthawk is implying that the Ilian figs' are produced by a new manufacturer, so the quality in painting and moulding is better (that's waht those who saw Karak and the Ice Golem at Gencon said...). I don't have any problems with the figs right now, but I agree with you : better is... Well, better is better !

Yeah, I managed to snag Karak and two Golems at GenCon... the quality is indeed superior to this first MC set. Karak even has subtle oxidized weathering (the bluish patina) on his bronze armor.

Basically, both of these guys look very similar to the original promo shots we were shown on the old site, which is impressive.

The ice golem is my absolete favorite paint job in the set so far. The colors are vibrant and really make you think of a frozen monster.

I just remembered, my girlfriend took some photos at GenCon, and I tossed them up on BGG a while back.

VERY nice! By next summer I guess there will be alot more releases out for new players. And also alot more people checking it out. I think the game will grow slowly, but steady.

There have been many complaints from old MC: Warzone players on the figures, but (even how cliched it sounds), you can't judge something by the look of it. I can't possibly compare this game to Warzone either, since it's more a "board game" like Fury of The Clansmen in my eyes. And you need way less miniatures. I love warzone, but that's a whole different license that's not claimed yet. FFG owns the Mutant Chronicles Miniatures license, not MC: Warzone. Or am I wrong?

You know, I played Warzone, and I am 100% when I say that MC's figs look better. MC's artwork back in the days was awesome, thanks to Bonner, Parente or Bisley, but the figs ? Most of them didn't look good. Now, we have solid sculpts, and each faction has a really distinctive look. Golgotha is as tentacle-y as ever, and Alakhai has never looked this good.

By the way, I can't wait to get my hands on Karak and the Ice Golem...

So any word what they can do? I saw the Alliance Order sheet but thier/its description was kind of cryptic/vague.

You're asking about Karak and the Ice golem ?

Here are the stats (collected from Gencon attendees)

Karak : Unique, Gold, Double base, Three blue dice, 4 health, +2 accuracy, 3 Ilian command, 1 Dark Symmetry Icon, 1 Art icon, allows an Ilian army to recruit non-Unique Brotherhood figs. But if he dies, all the brotherhood figs in your army take 1 wound.

He's sold with a unique item : Kark's command tent, which allows you to get 1 more slot in all three ranks. He also gets a lot of command cards which can only be played by him. A gold one allows him to get an additional action every activation, a silver one gives him 4 more health, another gold one allows him to resurrect when he's killed by sacrifying a brotherhood fig, and other ones give him flight (bronze) or Infiltration (bronze)... He can become a one-man army (though he'll be totally harmless against Vulkan prototypes immune to blue dice ).

The Ice golem is a Silver, Double base, two yellow dice, 6 health. He ignore ice terrain markers, but regains 2 lives when sitting on one. He has a special action to put ice tokens on enemy targets he manages to hit.

Ilian command cards are :

-Through the void (bronze, 1 icon, buyback 3 bronze) allows you to double accuracy on one of your dice.

-Summon golem (bronze, 3 icons, buyback 1 bronze) allows you to teleport one of your golems on an hex within LoS

-Shattering Blow (gold, 1 icon) Allows you to instant kill a unit with an ice token on it (ouch !)

-Freezing wind (silver, 2 icons) Roll three green dice. If you have sufficient accuracy, put an ice token on the target. Don't deal damage.

-Ice storm (bronze, 1 icon) Put an ice terrain marker on an hex within LoS. That hex is now hindering terrain.

-Chill touch (silver, 1 icon) Add a red die to your attack. If the attack hits, the target unit can't be activated durint its player next turn.

So Ilian will be an ice-themed faction, with a lot of tricks... The faction seems to be more "shooty" than Algeroth. Adding hindering terrain on the map is great, and instant killing figs is not too shabby either. A lot of Ilian command cards are 1 icon only, so all of Ilian's troopers will be able to use them.

Thank you guys, especially Paptimus, for bringing some light into what awaits us with the Ilian Army. I wonder why FFG didn't post at least some Previews on the faction, but as long as there are people like you in the Forum, who keep the Infoflow alive, everything is fine for me. Thanks.

If Karaks Player takes the Art Card "Psychic Possession" in his Army, hunting Karak with Prototypes wont be any fun at all for us Bauhauser.

karak is even more nasty. he not only has 3 blue dice (yowzer) but gets to reroll one of them.

also, while the tent effectivly adds the ccs to your army list they stay with the tent (can be played as if they are in your hand) but if the tent is destroyed you lose those ccs, so it is slightly different then adding slots).

I was wondering if Karak and the Ice Golem were Webstore exclusives. From what I read in the news it only says Webstore whereas the other releases always mentioned retail stores.
