Custom case for holding expansion sets

By Steeljaw, in Arkham Horror: The Card Game

So I used Broken Tokens insert for the core box set which works great but it only holds the core set and 1 or 2 more expansions. So I had this made which fits over 2,000 sleeved cards. Think it will work really nicely. The design is laser etched into the wood case.

Very cool! Can you get this set (suitcase, inset) complete somewhere? If not, where did you get the suitcase? And, could you post a picture with some cards in it?

Not to speak for the OP but I'm assuming this was the classic artist sketch box from Hobby Lobby that is the mainstay of gamer storage porn across the internet.

The insert is from Broken Token? There are several companies that make wooden inserts for a variety of games and this case in particular.

I have achieved similar results on various boxes I've made for other games by printing out the logo I want on the box, tracing it on to the lid with some carbon paper, and then using a wood burning tool (which is basically a soldering iron) to burn it right into the lid. It's not as fancy as an embossing but if you have a steady hand and a printer, you're all set.

Currently I have 2 Cores and the first PoD pack all sleeved an in one Core box using Go7's insert. There was enough space to pre-build the recommended investigator decks and set up each scenario in one deck, but the space is pretty much all used up. I'll need to get myself over to Hobby Lobby and get another case to make for this game when the Dunwich cycle hits.

To the OP; I believe Go7 makes an insert for that case that has taller channels for the cards, so the lid is less likely to catch on the cards stacked to towards the front when you close it.

I'll post pictures with some cards in it. The cards stand vertically in this.

i learned less in high school. thank you.

And nice job on the box OP!

A lot more expensive I imagine but i think these boxes are super high quality and nice. I'm hoping to eventually pick one up.

While that case looks pretty cool it looks far less flexible for holding cards into sets. I wish the custom painters case was cheaper but it actually costs more.

For anyone who cares, Hobby Lobby currently has a 40% off coupon at their website that can be used online or in store for any one regularly priced item, making the above mentioned case $15 instead of $25. It's valid through December 17th.

That coupon is perpetually revolving, as soon as it expires they replace it with a new one for the week.

Good point regarding sets/decks!
