I've been considering a Finn/Hera VCX for extra punch. With FCS, you get a lot of attack rerolls to cover his added blank. At range 1, it can make it a 6 die attack. With a lock and focus, that can be deadly.
Problem is... would that be too pricey for a Lothal?
Would Gunner be worth more?
Edited by KasuvariI've been testing lothal with FCS, Finn & Hera, no turrets. It's pretty good, specially if you are able to focus. I bring Thane with Kanan to clean the stress of the lothal and kyle katarn to shoot first. At range one the ship shoots like a berseker, no matter how many defense dices ot tokens
Tough call. On the one hand, you get no benefit from his extra agility dice. On the other, an extra attack on a ship that has 4 attacks base is pretty brutal.
My normal Lothal Rebel build has Han and ABT. If I drop the turret and replace Han with Finn, that only costs an extra point. You lose the turret flexibility and need an extra source of Focus but the gain to forward firepower is interesting.
I actually played against someone someone using that combo this weekend. It just plain wrecks things. Eats low agility ships. I'm trying to recall what the gentleman flew as a wingmate, but honestly, I can't remember anything except how fast my Lancer/double Y list melted in the face of that VCX.
With FCS, Finn, and Hera on board basically has a continuous 5 dice primary. After seing it flown several times i think it is a relatively good option.
I lost to one with biggs as the flying mate a few weeks ago. Wrecked my ships pretty fast. It didnt help when biggs rolled double evade twice in a row. His ion turret never missed either.
Short answer. No. No crew is too expensive as long as you get utility from that crew. I have him with Hera, I didn't fly stressed a lot cause I wanted my focus for maximum damage. My Lothal was 48 points. I flew a 50 point Miranda with Sabine, homing missiles, Conner net, TLT, EM, and advanced slam. I should have switched to cluster mines instead of Conner net. My Lothal was Finn, Hera, FCS, ABT, and plasma torpedoes.
Finn on the ghost is fantastic! However, I strongly prefer Rey crew over Hera if you want to use him. With Finn your game is punching REALLY HARD not movement. With both Rey and Finn you can set up fully modified shots. Six dice at range one crushes ships.

Don't worry about the TLAs, you get used to them after a while.

Kinda synergetic here. Dutch moves first at PS 6. Takes a TL and passes a free one to Garvin.
Garvin goes second at PS 6 takes a Focus
VCX as explained in this thread. K turn for days. Dutch goes for Ions forcing opponents move. Garvin attacks, passes focus to VCX.
I saved this list. But honestly probably won't fly it for a while as I get about 1-2 games a week. But I'm like 98% sure this will win worlds 2017. Will the winner please forward me a thank you card.
