Will they ever even out the number of ships?

By Mogrok, in Star Wars: Armada

As the title said. I would have expected by now that the powers that be would have added another imperial ship to even out the mix....although if it came out with another admiral that would make those numbers uneven...

Lancer...strike cruiser....imp dreadnought....imperial carrier....just to give more variety. Without looking I am wondering if the number of unique non admiral officers are also equal?

Unless I misplaced some cards, the Imps have 2 more unique officers than Rebels.

I don't think FFG will even the amount of ships. It's only off by 1. The squads are even, as well as commanders. I don't think it is a huge deal. I consider the extra ship to be the Neb, because you don't see a non-Yavaris one run anymore, unless you're some kind of hipster trying to break the status quo.

With future waves this will be less of an issue because there will be so many options.

I count 8 rebel officers, 9 imperial.

Yep! SWM20 is the SSD! There you go. Both sides now have an even number of ships.;)

I think this soon be worse with rogue one giving us another rebel ship.

Vindicator Heavy Cruiser intensifies

Probably eventually. My sense is that at the moment, it doesn't matter too much. Both sides have a diversity of ideas they can employ. The Rebels are a bit more flexible, but my guess is that the Arquitens is going to open the game considerably for them, with a lot of new build possibilities and combinations, whereas the Pelta allows the Rebels to do mostly what they already do a little better. This game feels like its stepping into its prime finally. I definitely felt like the Imps could have used a ship to even things out back in Wave 2, but now that wave 5 is almost here, it really doesn't feel that way anymore.

Another large ship (Tector or something like that) with fleet command, and the medium vindicator for the Imperial

Another medium interdictor type for the rebels, should work well..

But not needed at this stage but I do foresee the need eventually.

Another Imperial not happy with their ships? Another complaint? Hell, if you're really jealous come join the rebellion.

Not the first thread to bring it up and I say again the Empire is doing just fine. Also if you follow the Star Wars story (I know, fluff talk.) the Rebels are not a unified fleet and is a combination of all types of ships while the Imperial fleet was mostly the ISD's with support ships. Hell, there are too many ships if you follow canon because neither the GSD or Raider are canon. (FFG created the Raider for X-Wing but it is still not canon.)

The Empire is just fine. Or you could resolve that envy and play Rebels instead and fly the "fantastic" MC30 or Neb-B. Everyone is just jealous over those two ships.

A card only Imperial Nebulon conversion pack could be nice. Including enough to field 2 Nebs would mean it could be the same pricing point as a single Neb pack with model. Possibly add it to the next campaign pack along with some convoy raiding scenarios and rules.

Include 2 ship titles, 2 Imperial firing arc cards for the bases, 2 of each ship cards, then pad out the pack with a few of the rare cards that only appear in the Rebel packs like TRCs, Chart Officer, Med Team etc.

they could easily do imperial nebulon B refits in some sort of campaign or ace pack with new titles and officers, no admiral and that would make it even

In the newcanon novel Lost Stars, "twenty-gun raiders" are ordered by the Empire into the atmosphere of Jakku to engage the rebel starfighters. Sounds like a nod to the FFG ship.

Don't forget salvation, that's a good neb as well.

There is no way to even out the number of cool ships. The imperials have all of them. They would have to stray from the Star Wars rebel lot to make any rebel ships that were cool.

Imps: 7 cool looking ships. Choose any of them. Destroy your opponent with style...

Rebels: Maybe the CR-90 is cool. The Pelta is not too bad. The rest are made with bubbles, duct tape and whale bones.

(They spent all of their design money on the X-Wing...oh no wait they stole that too...) :)

I rarely see it so that's why I didn't include it. With Sato I expect it to make a come back.

I don't understand, Imps are getting two ships this wave.

The second one is super cheap, has 8 hull, and throws 3 blues out if every arc.

I was just upset that we are only getting 3 squadrons...

Not a complaint...just OCD when it comes to my shelf and having everything even.

I proxied in Morna Kee for a game, and she is my new favorite squadron. With Rhymer, she gets to throw 3 blue at a ship, and get a reroll. Counter is nice, but being able to recover her Brace after every activation is so nice. Dropped Boba Fett for her and I love it.

Buy another Star Destroyer.

That is the Empire's answer for most problems! :)

The minute they make an Imperial ship without a glaring handicap will be the same wave they even the numbers. So no, never. (ISD, the most expensive ship in the game, notwithstanding.)

;)

Now if you add in all the ships from Shapeways/Mel's Miniatures I really couldn't answer the question since with all the new Rebel ships including all those great looking Mon-Calamari ships then who knows.

I must say that without Mel's Miniatures the Rebel Fleet would be very small indeed so I'm glad that Mel has done those ships.

Those models look great, but technically none of them are tournament legal. If you don't play tournaments, then who cares. But the majority of the community here does like to play competitively. That said, if my opponent has an alternate model for a ship, like a different AF or MC80, I'm fine with them playing it. It's more thematic and aesthetically pleasing.

Hopefully FFG can pull some inspiration from Mel's Miniatures.

I love you Caribbean Ninja!!!!

I find it funny that Rebels have more large ships than Empire. Empire has the most medium ships and Rebels have the most small.

I think if Imperials had one more squadron and I'd call it even.
