What I'm having a problem with is coming up with more cards... more actual quests in the view of the orginal Talisman Tasks hosted at Talismanisland.com. At present there are
- 8 Compounders, which when drawn can add (or hinder) a quest draw with them
- 2 Options, which when drawn allow an adventurer wider choice of a quest
- 33 Quests (actual) ones
Compounders are mostly in there to help quests speed along, as in Talisman Tasks the quest are actual tasks and not waiting for something to happen so you blip back to the Warlock's Cave. You must get to certain starting points, do something, and sometimes head to a destination. Along with the compounders there is Forced March rule that lets players try to hit a desired / needed space more easily. Overall, almost all the quests actually allow an adventurer to do something to complete them inside leaning of random draws from the adventure deck
But I want the ratio to Compounders to actual Quests to be about 1 to 5... so I'm short on actual Quests. I'm looking for any notions anyone would like to suggest. Dorian/Dth has already contributed widely to this coming 2.0 edition (I wouldn't have half the addtional cards so far without it). And anyone who contributes would of course be listed as a contributer in the final package.
For those interested (or just mildly curious), I've unloaded a preview archive containing all materials so far in screen rather than print resolution to reduce archive size. Hopefully they are still readable. Also included are 4 PDFs inventorying different features used on quest so far (staring points, destinations, types of card transformations, alternative rewards, etc). Once you see what's going on with the cards, you might take a look at these inventories to look for attributes unused or under used.
And of course, if what's in the package isn't clear to you, then you can ask question herein that might lead me to other improvements as well.
That's about it for the moment, as my brain is fried, and I'm not sure this post makes complete sense to even me.
