Rebel Action Economy

By boomaster, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Not a high PS list really but I fancied trying to put together a list which features some action economy for the rebels, plus one of my favorite pilots:

Jake Farrell - A-Wing Test Pilot, Refit, PTL, Juke, Autothrusters (29)

"Snap" Wexley - BB-8, Primed Thrusters, Snap Shot, Autothrusters (35)

Heff Tobber - Collision Detector, Extra Munitions, Jyn Erso, Sabine Wren, Cluster Mines, Anti-pursuit lasers, Pivot Wing (36)

Jake gets a free boost or barrel roll for focus action or assign, Snap gets his free boost of a 2 speed or greater move, Heff gets his from being bumped and APL and hopefully a cluster mine.... or passes focus to any of the 3 and if Jake hasn't had his boost when it gets passed he can take it then...

Not a heavy firepower list like some and it's probably not the strongest list out there because it doesn't contain Dengar, Manaroo or a Tie Defender... but Rebels can't get them...

I think this list will limit Jake to death. Jake is a soloist. Keeping him in the U-wing's arc and in range of Jyn Erso to get more focus tokens is a trap. You might as well fly him into a kill box on purpose.

Well there is that, and personally, I like Calculation on Jake. Most times you are going to be trying to focus as an action on him to get his free boost or barrel roll, and with normally having only a 2 dice attack, you'll probably get a lot of use out of Calculation (probability of throwing 2 focus on 2 dice is 6.25%, probability of at least 1 focus 43.75%, so 37.5% of all rolls, Calculation will be a good option) is pull off Juke, as it's unlikely to help much on a last that can't control the opposing focus or paling multiple Jukes. I also think you will find Snap Shot doesn't work well on him unless you predict extremely well, and then you get a2 die unmodified shot that the opponent still gets to throw defensive dice for. Crack Shot would be better, or throw on Vet Instincts and the Title instead (for 2 PS8 pilots). Without seeing the U-Wing in action, I don't feel like I can give good advice on how it would work or wouldn't work.

It'll be interesting to see the U-wing once it comes out. I'd like to see how it plays on the table.
