Sato90s

By Undeadguy, in Star Wars: Armada

With Sato, TRC90s can now be run naked and have the potential to deal more damage per turn. Double arcing and CF means 4 black dice at long range per turn. That averages out to 1 hit/crit and 2 hits per turn from each one. And you get to use both your Evades. And now you have 7, 14, or 21 more points to spend.

You could run 5 CR90s, 8 YT-2400, a flotilla+BH+Sato all for 400 points. Incase you ever got sick of running against 4 TRC90s+8 YT-2400s.

So do you think it is worth it to drop TRC for the CR90 and start throwing blacks instead of a double red? There is always the chance to roll blanks all game, but I think this might be stronger agains the new medium/large ship Imps will be running now they can supplement their flanks with the Arq and Tua.

It depends. Trc90s were popular because they were reliable helping to counteract the rage inducing red dice. Sato is worth looking at with the cr90 but my gut tells me you still need some kind of dice mod. An example of this is that black bomber dice didn't really get on a roll until bcc. Maybe Sato w/ trc90 or double turbo?

If you are willing to limit the range to up the reliability, CR90b with leading shots, with a double arc medium range shot and CF dial would be 4 black reroling dice..... All for 43 points

TRCs only work on red dice.

I believe he meant just CR90s, and just forgot that they aren't actually called TRC90s.

I was actually referring to trc90s. Leave one or two reds when you concentrate fire just to reliable do a double hit to counteract some of the flakiness (1 red and 2 blacks out the front at long range as an example). Probably not point efficient enough though.

So I ran 3 Sato90s, and it's not overwhelmingly powerful. Most damage dealt was 5 in a single attack without a CF. Once the sticky squads were wiped away, those naked CR90s really hurt. Ended up dealing 1 damage per shot at long range to a Vic II.

I'm also not very good at flying CR90s, so I found it hard to anticipate double arcs and to maintain them. Someone with more skill should try and see what they think. Being able to use both my Evades was wonderful though. Removed a lot of double hits and crits.

I was referring to the OP, since he said, "...TRC90s can now be run naked", which, by definition, makes them not TRC90s. :)

Expected output on a two black die attack: 2.

Expected damage output on a two red die attack with Turbolaser Reroute: 2.75.

Expected damage output on a one red, one black die attack with Turbolaser Reroute: 3

Expected damage output on a two black, one red attack: 2.75

Expected damage output on a two black, two red attack: 3.5

Expected damage output on a two black, one red attack with Turbolaser Reroute: 4

Expected damage output on a two black, two red attack with Turbolaser Reroute: 4.75.

It's worth the 7 points to increase your damage output by no less than 25%, and as high as 50%.

Woops, my bad.
