Attack of Opportunity on Activate abilities

By autio, in Arkham Horror: The Card Game

If you use a weapon that has an activate ability to fight does this still create an attack of opportunity on an engaged enemy? The rules say that any action other than Fight, Evade, or Parley/Resign ability will cause an attack of opportunity. And technically I'm using an activate action, not a Fight action.

For example: Can I use Roland's .38 Special to fight an enemy I'm engaged with and not be hit with an attack of opportunity?

Thanks!

yes, you can, and there is no attack of opportunity, because the card specifically states " >>> Fight " on it.

the card has to specifically state "this card does not give attacks of opportunity" in order for it to not provoke one if the card doesn't have the fight, evade, parley/resign text on it.

Just to be clear. If I had the revolver in my hand at the time I'm engaged with an enemy. To put it into play I would take an attack of opportunity unless I evaded the monster first?

Thanks again.

Correct.

Unless the weapon asset had the "Fast" keyword that makes Switchblade so... adequate.

So, in my turn I will need to use all of my actions attacking to avoid the "attack of opportunity", is that right?

On your turn you will need to do actions that don't draw an attack of opportunity while you are engaged with enemies.

So if you are only engaged with one enemy, you can spend the first action evading, and if successful you can do whatever you want for those other two actions. If you're engaged with three enemies, you could evade one for the first action, evande another for the second action, and then evade the last for the third action, which might be viable if there is a second investigator who can attack them or something.

i'm hoping for an upgrade switchblade with maybe a +1 or a "this attack uses agility" that lets you put it back in hand for free, similar to the upgraded Magnifying Glass, i think that, for maybe 1 or even 2 exp, would make switchblade a much more amazing weapon in place of others for rogues.

I haven't been able to justify putting a switchblade in any skids or Wendy I've built thus far. It's so... meh.

0 cost and returns to hand automatically if you aren't engaged would be baller.
