Sith talents?? and Dun Moch??

By LordEnforcer, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Are there currently or do you think there will be created in ffg star wars or even HOMEBREW:

a talent tree for sith studies/ abilites?

also what would the Force power Dun Moch be?

Thank you in advance to any thoughts, help on the questions, any links provided to these questions?

I'd say that being Sith is more a matter of philosophy and choices, not a specific specialization. The existing specs are more than adequate for making a Sith character of any stripe you can imagine. So I doubt that FFG is going to put out anything specifically for Sith characters.

As for Dun Moch, that sounds to me more like a combination of the Shadow spec, the Shien spec and the Misdirect power. So again, not likely that we'll ever see something specifically named Dun Moch.

Most of the Conflict trees (Aggressor, Executioner, Sentry, etc) work well for the first. I doubt we'll ever see an official Sith tree, though—just as we'll probably never see an official Jedi tree. And not every Sith has to have one of the Conflict trees—the one in my game is a Shadow/Shien Expert, with no apparent inclination to go into Sentry. The player did express minor interest in the Executioner tree, but I think that was just the name that caught his attention.

Neither of my Out of Ashes players has any of the splatbooks, anyway.

The second sounds like a narrative thing and probably a justification for giving the enemy Setback dice. (Due to your advantage/their threat, of course, not just randomly.) Some uses of Dun Moch could probably fall under Influence, too.

Dun Moch could easily be replicated with the (Diplomat) Agitator and the (Guardian) Warden specs, IMO. Sprinkle a little of the Influence power for flavor. Bake at 425 degrees for 45 minutes. Voila! ;)

Of course, neither of those specs are necessary as it could all be roleplayed like Shy Ion says. Remember kids, YMMV.

I think there are some of the legendary sith abilities that just will never make it into the game, pretty much everything sith in KOTOR 2.

Maybe you could make something for Kreia's triple force wielding lightsabers.

Move power with mastery upgrades covers that.

To be honest I feel being a sith, aside from being a part of a super exclusive fanclub of self superiority is more a matter of idelogy then exclusive powers. Dum much for example is as simple as learning about the target (either by reading the mind with sense or personal research.) and targeting their weak points with barbed insults or snide comments, giving the impression that they know more about the target then they do in a sense. Of course, pelting them with a lot of objects helps, grabbing a fist full of Sil 0/1 objects mightn't be lethal but rather aim to exhaust their ability to reflect/parry.

Being a Jedi brings the very samauri concept of talking, and ending conflicts decisively if they arise with minimal disturbance to force. A contrast that the sith has is that they don't care about balance, their destiny is to rule the galaxy under any circumstance and to guide the population with the only opinion that matters, their.

So I don't think we will see any "sith" trees, sith fundamentally are not available to PC's in this era and in earlier eras adopt the "at any cost, their cost I mean." approach to obtaining power. But rather they will be created and act in a way that is extremely efficient, but very amoral.

That strikes me as the same thing as asking for an Imperial Source Book when we have a perfectly good military game engine already. All the tools are currently in place, all you need to do is reskin them from Jedi to Sith. How one lifts a starship with the naked power of your mind doesn't change regardless if you have a green saber or a red.

We might see one of those Sith Purebloods some day, but actual talent trees and careers? Unnecessary.
