3 x 6 Courscant matt please...

By Gottmituns205, in Star Wars: Armada

Just saying...it would be amazing.

Lets show ffg what they are missing out on here....sound off.

That would be pretty awesome - as long as it was pretty dark.

Yes!

Any vision for graphics?

I'd prefer the side that's not reflecting the star's light (see where I say dark, above), but this looks pretty awesome in my book:

I only can say one thing if FFG do...

I've always been hoping for an official Armada 3x6 mat. 2 X-Wings mats are barely ok. They often separate at the join border and where they join the curves of the two mats makes an area that is vacant and shouldn't be vacant, and it has been the debate of a few matches where a ship was "off" the mats but really it shouldn't have been had the mat been 6x3.

While it looks hella cool - did, "canonically", any battles in the 'rebellion' era happen over Coruscant? Obviously, there was that one battle during the Clone Wars.

I think, though - in nuCanon - the Empire did a pretty good job keeping the Rebel scum away from the capital. At least, until the fleet withdrew from the planet entirely...

Probably not, but I'm not sure that's a killing point. Were there capital ship combats over Bespin or Yavin, or around a completed Death Star? Does that mean we shouldn't use those mats either?

I think the 'hella cool' argument might be what drives sales.

Episode 3 version....that red purple glow...no curve of the planet...just straight up planet.

There's a big gap from wherever Rebels is currently to wherever A New Hope / Rogue One starts where we don't know what's happened yet. It's all being re-written. Same for all the stuff that happens between A New Hope and Empire. There isn't much actual canon there as far as I know.

The Battle Of Endor and a bunch of small fights in Rebels are all we've really seen so far. And I'd rather play a "What if" scenario where the Rebels attacked Coruscant instead of Endor any day. The Battle of Endor is an awesome cinematic experience but a terrible scenario to play in Armada. There are no interesting tactical choices to change or make as far as the ships were concerned. It was like 10 times more empire ships than Rebels and the Rebels are just waiting for the shields to come down. Something totally out of their control. The only reason the Empire ships didn't just totally roll over the Rebels was they were ordered to stay out of the fight so the Emperor could gloat to Luke as he watched them get blown up one at a time by the Death Star. There's no Armada game there.

So, as far as Star Wars historical fights, "what if"s are fine and maybe better in some cases in my book.

Bring on the 6x3 Coruscant map! :)

PS: There were never 2 Death Star's together at the same time either, but several battle mat layouts I've seen recently says otherwise ;)

Alternatively, we have Rogue One coming out this week with a fleet engagement over Sicarra (sp?) if you wanted a more 'in-cannon' source for a mat. Planet curve, blue oceans, green islands, and the shield portal/station.

I do agree with the rule of cool and Courscant mat is absolutely gorgeous and I'd certainly buy one. Another idea would be the Hoth system much like the X-wing mat but featuring some of the asteroids that litter the system.

A 6x3 Coruscant map with the wave that brings us Seperatist and Republic navies, s'il vous plait.
