Snap Shot really isn't worth it on PS 9 - even Palp can't change those dice, and nobody is going to stop right in front of Vader. Plus Vader really really want Engine Upgrade. I'd drop Shield Upgrade from Wampa (he's not the priority target anyway) and Tac Jammer from the Decimator and put Predator and EU on Vader.
Agreed with the above, though I believe you're incorrect with Palp and snapshot. Pretty sure Palp can modify the Dice as he's not on the ship using snap shot. Same as Palp can modify the Dice of a ship target locked by Omega Leader, as long as the ship Palp is on isn't the one Target locked by Omega Leader.
I wouldn't bother with Tac Jammer. I know you're going to try to block Wampa with the Deci, but that will only reliably work for a round. After that, it's a waste of points, especially since, against some lists, the Deci is going to be the primary target over Wampa.
For the Shield on Wampa -- he's going down, there really isn't any preventing it. Putting four more points for a marginal increase in defense (again, because your opponent will fairly easily get around Tac Jammer) isn't likely going to be worth it. Let him be your Imperial Biggs for a round, and use the points elsewehre -- Prockets on Vader can be a nice touch, especially if he sneaks in close while Wampa is still drawing hate. Or maybe upgrade the Deci, even. EU on Vader is really what I'd grab first, imo, but I know some folks feel differently.
I don't think the list is without merit, you just need to think of how all of your points are going to end up scoring at the end of the match, and more points on Wampa reduces how effective the little bugger is at being a PIA.
ALSO -- depending on your meta/opponent, PS 9 Vader has an absolute hard counter in PS9 Poe. Adaptability would be a nice add on.
Would Snap Shot on a decimator with gunner work?
Would Snap Shot on a decimator with gunner work?
No - the card says you can't fire attack again that phase.
How about dropping Wampa for getting the other two up there?
Rear Admiral Chiraneau — VT-49 Decimator 46
Veteran Instincts 1
Emperor Palpatine 8
Gunner 5
Seismic Charges 2
Engine Upgrade 4
Ship Total: 66
Darth Vader — TIE Advanced 29
Adaptability 0
Advanced Targeting Computer 1
Engine Upgrade 4
TIE/x1 0
Ship Total: 34
Both PS10, and EU on Decimator allows possible arc dodging, desperately needed on a 0 agility ship. Also, being able to fire with RAC before Vader means he has a better chance of landing that ATC crit on hull instead of shields. Obviously you can adjust to your taste, but I see this doing a little better overall.
If you really want the Wampa damage though, I would suggest this:
Patrol Leader — VT-49 Decimator 40
Emperor Palpatine 8
Ysanne Isard 4
Proximity Mines 3
Anti-Pursuit Lasers 2
Ship Total: 57
Lieutenant Colzet — TIE Advanced 23
Proton Rockets 3
Fire-Control System 0
Guidance Chips 0
TIE/x1 0
Ship Total: 26
"Wampa" — TIE Fighter 14
Hull Upgrade 3
Ship Total: 17
Closer to your original list, but a bit different on the choice of advanced pilot. Colzet is setup so he flies very close to Wampa. Anyone Wampa fires at and procs his ability, Colzet can follow up fire with, FCS gives him a TL on them, which he then can spend in the end phase to flip that damage card up. I gave him prockets in case you get the opportunity where someone lands at Range 1 of him. 5 dice attack isn't something to pass up, especially when you have the points for it. Then the chips are because the modification slot doesn't really need anything else.
Those are some suggestions based on my experience. Unless Patrol Leader can put in a lot of work, or you get really lucky in the crit pulls, I think you'll find most lists are able to weather that Wampa storm pretty easily. But it is fun to see happen. You could add Saboteur to PL instead, just for more fun, but that's really going into the fun to fly lists rather than the competitive level lists.
