Commander Klank's Nemesis class Star Destroyer... WIP

By Commander Klank, in Star Wars: Armada Painting and Modification

For your base, you can go and get little pads for use underneath couches and chairs. They are made of felt. On my base for my SSD I have them and they prevent damage to the paint job and the ship from sliding around on the stand when using it or moving it. Only cost a couple of bucks at a hardware store.

Excellent tip thanks. Just what I need.

I have considered doing the same thing with an X-wing scale Raider and cutting off the solar panels.

I thought about that too. But when you actually compare the raider and the armada ISD side by side, the raider isn't as impressive as you'd imagine.

The raider is thicker near the engines and tends to look bigger if you have them both on display next to each other, but it's only slightly wider than the ISD with out the panels. The dimensions are just too acute to really pass for an ISD. It's more spear head than death pizza.

If you cut the raider in half and added some structure in there to widen the rear end, then you'd have a real contender. But that's more work than I wanted to do. Now that I know this revell kit exists I'd never even bother.

Did you consider some steel rods instead of those tubes?

I know they won't stand out nearly as much once you paint them, but if you really wanted to cut down on the visual interference, some thin steel rods and a couple holes for them to sit in would offer all the support and stability you'd need while leaving the least amount of stuff in view.

If you really wanted to get crazy you could do a tap and die setup for the base so you wouldn't need glue and you could break the whole thing down if you had/wanted to.

Model is done... the forward structure the second turret is sitting on is made from Mel's star ship panels.

If you are a rebel fleet commander, the SSD is a rare thing, but if the nemesis is massed produced that would be a definite nightmare to deal with.

Awesome job, looks ready to command a fleet.
