The rebellion stops here...
My "Nemesis" class Star Destroyer I scratch built ship from a Revell model for Star Wars Armada game. I used two of Mel's Imperial Star Destroyer mod kits for the turrets and bridge, some turrets from MechWorld (shapeways) for the and bits left over from a Battle Fleet Gothic game I had laying around. It's massive in game size but not too big. That is a Victory class Star Destroyer next to it for scale and that is the size I want the ship to be.
This is a work in progress; I just painted it today and already I'm going to change a few things I'm not happy with like the dark areas and (maybe) some of the big mega turbo laser turrets. Here's the 5$ tour...
The bridge:
It's a standard Imperial Star Destroyer Bridge (Mel's) mounted on BFG bits. A bit of research reveled that the empire used a standard sized bridge on all their ISD and bigger ships; even on the 19KM Executioner SSD. This helps lock the model into it's size in the game: it's about 3.5 times the size of a ISD.
I'm so going to paint a worn Bush/Cheney bumper sticker back there somewhere.
The broadside firepower
on the Nemesis is about equal to the firepower of both broad sides of an ISD... the upper turrets are standard ISD sized heavy turbo laser and ion cannon turrets (Mel's) that, again, lock in the scale of the ship and the four super turbo laser turrets are Mechworld turrets I changed the barrels on. In the game those are pretty much eye candy for now... I'm making a story line for them.
I used some cool looking Battlefleet Gothic turrets for trench turrets...
The forward super turbo laser turrets and the auxiliary bridge (I love the look and concept of this bridge)
One last look for now...
The plan is to mount the model on two large ship bases (Mel's) so it will have two cards... one for the forward section of the ship and the other for the stern. Kind of like how they did the SSD over at boardgame geeks. But that for another thread.
