Community Vote: Imperial Assault After Battle for Endor

By robertpolson, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

I would vote for:

1.) New material with canon resources, i.e. sullust maps, a campaign on an asteroid mining colony, etc. with more alien species as characters. We have a lot of tiles and things that see little use, so I would even go for a campaign book or two.

2.) I like the prequels and the clone wars series. I would be fine with a reboot in that era, and there is SOOOO much they could do in that time frame. Each expansion could be a single Jedi leader with clone/indigenous allies, droids/indigenous villains and so many worlds to choose from. The campaigns could be great, and Grievous could actually do something threatening at some point.

We could also finally get good command cards for the Droid trait!

I really like the idea of a campaign book that takes all boxed expansions into account, thus allowing for complete mixing of tiles.

Maybe it could even come packaged with an Imperial/scum unit squad, just to sweeten the pot. Still hoping for my flametroopers!

I think the only way that we see a campaign that uses every expansion is if they release some sort of campaign/mission design tool like Descent has for fans to use. For FFG it just doesn't make dollar sense to limit their customer base to only those that have 'gottem all'. I would love to see it personally, but I just don't think it will happen.

That's why I think a simple book would be most likely. Sure, it would still take man hours to create and test, but it could be a much smaller project than a full expansion box.

Hopefully something like that comes through in the App. Descent did something called the Delve uses everything and the more you have the more variety in dungeon tiles/monsters you will see.

For Mansions of Madness 2nd edition I haven't noticed much difference from telling it that I own the 2 expansions, it will still only use tiles from the core and I've only seen core monsters in core scenarios.

Slightly off topic, and I apologize. I'm interesting in Mansion of Madness. Can I buy second edition and not have need of the original?

Yea so the second edition is completely stand alone and built around the app. 2nd edition does come with a conversion kit that you can use to bring your existing heroes/monsters from 1st edition and those expansions into second edition.

If you don't own anything, you can buy 'figure and tile packs' that come with the heroes, monsters and tiles from first edition (and a new scenario for 2nd edition). One is all of the components from 1st edition and the other is all of the components from the two expansions for 1st edition:

https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/products/mansions-of-madness-second-edition/products/suppressed-memories-figure-and-tile-collection/

https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/products/mansions-of-madness-second-edition/products/recurring-nightmares-figure-and-tile-collection/

They are both great value for your dollar as you basically double to triple your hero and monster selection, add some very cool tiles and both of the scenarios are great, the one in Suppressed memories is actually my favourite.

These are not mandatory though obviously you can play with just the core. But if you haven't tried it yet I highly recommend it. It is an amazingly well done game and the scenarios scale well in difficulty depending what you are after. It is also up to 5 co-op which is nice. I generally just play with 2-3 people and 3-4 investigators (heroes). There are similarities to Descent/IA so if you've played either it helps speed up the learning curve, but it is still distinctively different that it feels like it's own unique system.

4-LOM and Zuckuss need to happen to round out the Empire bounty hunters for sure.

Gimme Shadows of the Empire. I wouldn't mind seeing characters/missions based around the tales series (Bounty Hunters/Jabba's Palace/Cantina).

Momaw Nadon to add more Ithorians. :P Pretty much anything from the pre-blu ray cantina (Dejariks out for Lak Sivrak)

Jawas

MORE ALIENS.

Clone Wars stuff would be cool. Just because the movies were disappointing doesn't mean the setting and characters have to be. Also, don't you want to get Kit Fistoed in skirmish?

Honestly, unless they jump from one big b0x to another, I don't think Endor will be our next expansion. Regardless of whether you think he should be in the game, an Endor expansion would be the most sensible time for Emperor Palpatine to show up in the game, and he deserves to be the villain of a full-length campaign. So if we stick to the large-small-large-small format established so far, I think we need something between now and Endor.

Honestly, I don't know if we do need a big box for Endor.

I get that Endor was a pretty important part of the films, but so was Bespin. I think it's arguable that we could either have a mini-campaign on Endor, or a full fledged- that's all in the hands of the creativity of the writers.

But as far as components go, we have a ton of forest tiles in the base game. Add in some new ones with giant trees and treehouses and you've easily got the makings of Endor- and maybe even a mission on Kashyyyk.

As far as units go, there aren't a whole lot we don't already have.

We already have stormtroopers, Imperial Officers, AT-STs...

I'd imagine if we went with a tweaked version of the Small box formula (1 merc unit type, 1 imp unit type) for something a little more Imp heavy, since Jabba's Realm is merc heavy, we might be able to fill in the gaps rather nicely.

I could see something like this:

Entanglement at Endor boxed expansion

4x Scout Troopers, groups of 2 (imp)

3x Imperial Engineers groups of 1(imp)

3x Crashed TIE Pilot, groups of 1 (merc)

Ally packs

Ewoks, group of 3

Ackbar

Villain Packs

Imperial "little bad", speeder mounted (with optional reconfiguration for Speeder Bike rider trooper) (imp)

Palpatine (imp)

4-Lom/ Zuckuss (merc)

Edited by subtrendy

I think it will be along the same means as previous formulas:

AVP's

Wicket Warrick - Ally

Scout Trooper/Villain on a speeder bike (similar to dewback rider) - Made up Villain

Ewok warriors - Ally troopers

4-LOM and/or Zuckus - Actual story line villain(s)

Small Box

Scout troopers 2x2 (elites and regulars)

Not sure, could be merc or double down on imps 2x2

So out of that list we are missing some big names still, Yoda, Emperor Palpatine, Tarkin, Ackbar, Zuckuss, 4-LOM and to a lesser extent maybe one of the pilots like Wedge or Nien Nunb?

The OT stuff is starting to get pretty thin by the time we work our way down that list but there is defintiely at least one wave of big names in there for a AVP only wave, and probably 2 if you include some Rogue One/Rebels characters.

I would like to see roque one and lot of avp to fill the universe more. Like missing bounty hunters and lobot and stuff.

I actually think you could squeeze a small box expansion out of a ROTJ Dagobah/ Death Star set up.

it allows for the introduction of Palpatine and Yoda, and you could include some type of creature for Dagobah and some imperial type for the throne room setting. The tiles could look pretty cool, and it's probably the only way we'll actually see tiles for these two iconic environments.

The only challenge would be how to work those two environments into a credible campaign, even a small one. But it would give FFG the chance to keep moving along in a predictable fashion for 2017, with a big box Endor set out in 12 months time.

Separately, I think we might see a small blister range drawn from a broad time period to test the market with the broader universe - the Kenobi/ Greedo/ Inquisitor wave was a bit of a mash up. FFG could try one or two popular individuals to gauge the demand in advance of 2018 (e.g. DarthMaul)

Maybe. I think we might get DSII stuff with an Endor small box. Again, we wouldn't need a ton of tiles for this.

4-LOM and/or Zuckus - Actual story line villain(s)

True, that would make sense. I think Palps might be better suited in an outside wave with Yoda, and maybe someone like Xixior for merc.

I don't think we need Dagobah to get Yoda, the Obi-Wan wave showed us they are not concerned with timelines or settings to introduce characters. For that reason I would be shocked to not see Yoda and Palpatine pop out, but I think they will be in separate waves. Yoda, smaller OT character (Greedo), way out there reach (Inquisitor) and rinse repeat with Palpatine. The fact that we have already seen the Grand Inquisitor kind of makes me think we might not ever see a Rebels box, and just get them through AVP's.. he would have been a big player in that box.

Yeah, I don't think we'll get a full Dagobah release.

Though, it does look like we're getting some swamp tiles in JR. Maybe we'll get some Dagobah action sooner than you expect, or at the very least maybe Yoda will be tied to this wave and his acquisition mission will make use of those tiles for a Dagobah setting.

I'm all for swamps. They should have some swamp based creature as others have suggested. I love the way the trash compactor monster works. It needs a mini. Still, I'd rather it not be Dagobah for lore reasons.

Yeah, I'm afraid a campaign there would just be kinda awkward.

A single mission would be okay, but even then, not totally necessary.

My Endor/DS2 Mini Campaign Idea;

Mission 1: Endor: Imperial Shuttle Pad

Objective: Steal a Shuttle to infiltrate the DS2.

Allies: Ewok Leader + Ewoks.

Villain: Scout Trooper Leader.

Rebel Win: Rebels successfully prevent reports of their assault, and infiltrate the DS2. Ewok ally joins (available to Rebels) -> Mission 2A

Imperial Win: Rebels captured and taken to DS2 for interrogation. Villain escorts them (available to Imperial) -> MIssion 2B

Mission 2A: DS2: Landing Bay

Objective: Obtain Intel on secondary DS2 defences in upcoming Space Battle. Maintain infiltration somehow?

Allies: None unless Ewok brought.

Villain: Emperor's Hand (Mara Jade light essentially)

Rebel Win: Rebels successfully identify defences they can disrupt to aid in the upcoming space battle. Infiltration not discovered. -> Mission 3A

Imperial Win: Rebels identify defences, but are no longer covert. Imperials start hounding their every move. Emperor's Hand pursues (available to Imperial) -> Mission 3B

Mission 2B: DS2: Escape Interrogation

Objective: Escape captivity, evade re-capture and scout for suitable harassment targets.

Allies: None

Villain: Scout Trooper Leader if brought.

Rebel Win: Successful escape and reports of escape do not travel fast. Covert infiltration can begin.

Imperial Win: Successful escape, but Imperials are fully aware of their presence and start hounding their every move. -> Mission 3B

Mission 3A: DS2: Heroic Rescue

Objective: While infiltrating, the group encounter a captured ally and attempt to rescue them.

Allies: Jedi Luke, held captive by Royal Guards

Villain: Scout Trooper Leader or Emperor's Hand (whichever has been earnt)

Rebel Win: Luke is freed, but cannot come with you. He still has to turn his father to the light side. He gives you a reward, and sends you on your way. -> Finale 4A

Imperial Win: Luke is taken away by the Imperial Troops, and you are forced to flee, deeper into the DS2. -> Finale 4B

Mission 3B: DS2: Hot Pursuit

Objective: Keep moving, evade capture and do some damage while you're at it. Cause problems and reach a high-value target to aid in Space Battle outside.

Allies; None, unless Ewok brought.

Villain: Scout Trooper Leader or Emperor's Hand (whichever has been earnt)

Rebel Win: Terminals and troops are being destroyed/distrupted. Hopefully this will be a significant assistance to the fleet's performance outside the DS2. -> Finale 4A

Imperial Win: Minor damage is done, but you are being pushed deeper and deeper into the depths of the DS2. Escape from here will be nigh impossible. -> Finale 4B

Finale 4A: DS2: Thorn in their Side

Objective: Assault high value target and disable DS2 defences, allowing ships better chance.

Allies; None, unless Ewok brought.

Villain: Scout Trooper Leader or Emperor's Hand (whichever has been earnt)

Rebel Win: You successfully assault and disable internal weaponry, as the Rebel ships assault the core, you are fighting a retreat to the hangar bay where you escape on a shuttle.

Imperial Win: The forces of the Empire are too strong, and you are driven away from the possible escape route. Fighting until the end, you can only hope that your efforts made any difference.

Finale 4B: DS2: Defiant until the End

Objective: Go down fighting. Unless a miracle happens you don't expect to escape the DS2 now. Destory and kill as much as possible.

Allies; None, unless Ewok brought.

Villain: Scout Trooper Leader or Emperor's Hand (whichever has been earnt)

Rebel Win: The destruction is massive, and the Imperial forces are too busy dealing with your unit to man the guns preventing ships entering the internals of the DS2. You manage to get to a shuttle and take off, just as the DS2 explodes.

Imperial Win: The waves of troops are never-ending, and one by one your team mates are finished off. The last of you sees the core of the DS2 being assaulted by ships, but eyes close before you can learn if your actions made any difference.

Maybe too much DS2 in that, so another Endor Mission maybe?

Endor -> Endor -> DS2 -> DS2

Endor -> Endor -> DS2 -> DS2

Probably- I'd imagine there'd be more than just one Endor mission. Looks pretty good, though!

I'd love for IG-88 to make an appearance on the DS2. He's core box, so I guess that's possible.

We need a Krayt dragon!!!!!!!

After the Endor box, I don't think I would buy any more imperial assault. There is sooooo much campaign content and possibilities that I think anything from here on out would be redundant. Got to keep an eye on costs and storage space.

I probably have another 2-3 waves of Armada left in me though after what is already announced before that game gets stale like X-Wing

I still maintain a campaign book only expansion is a great idea, using tiles and figures from all sets.

So long as the book is clearly marked as using all expansions, it cannot be mis bought by people who don't have all expansions...
