what is your current list?

By kyten44, in X-Wing

I've been handed a very similar Nien Nunb build that I think may be slightly better...

Nien Nunb - Rage, R3-A2, Pattern Analyster, Experimental Interface, Black One (38)

The main advantage over the one you're using there is that tying your Boost into R7-T1 makes life a bit harder to get into range 1 and shed stress. The rest of it is very similar, you have to drop down to PS7 but you add stress-dealing into the Astromech slot.

  1. Perform a Tallon-Roll. That's a red move but you've got Pattern Analyser so don't take a stress token yet.
  2. Boost to get an enemy at Range 1.
  3. Use Experimental Interface to take a second action.
  4. Activate Rage for a Focus & Rerolls on your attack.
  5. Gain 2 stress from Rage. Discard them thanks to Nien Nunb's pilot ability.
  6. Gain 1 stress from Experimental Interface. Discard it.
  7. Check Pilot Stress - gain 1 stress from your T-Roll. Discard it.
  8. Shoot your opponent and use R3-A2.
  9. Gain 1 stress. Discard that too.
  10. Repeat from 1.

Fun times!

That's a great build for Nien too, agreed.

I prefer running him at PS9, just to maximise the chances of me personally using his abilities and upgrades more. (I'm not the best at flying, especially against opposing high PS). It's just that shade easier to fly, R7-T1 means you're opened up to getting in arc at R2, taking a focus, using EI to TL and boost into range 1 and remove the stress. Doubly so if it was a red manouver with PA. So in essence both builds do the same thing in a different way. (Both wind up stress free with a focus and re-rolls, minus the stress dished out with R3-A2).

EDIT: Also saving a point on your build could be important. I'll need to practice!

Yeah they're very similar, I just think of all the times I've had Nien behind somebody and wouldn't have been in their arc to use R7-T1 so just having a Boost action I can always take is a bit more flexible.

You can do something a bit similar with "Snap" Wexley and Targeting Astromech/Pattern Analyster too. He keeps his stress from the T-Roll but you've not had to use Experimental Interface as he boosts for free, so you can equip Autothrusters in the mod slot.

Good old Snap. I've flown him once and not really tried to find his sweet spot since. He's kind of eluded me. Loving that list though. Consider it stolen to be flown poorly by me.

How does point 5 work? The ability says "When you receive a stress token, if there is an enemy ship inside your firing arc at Range 1, you may discard that stress token." You get 2 tokens at same time, not one by one, right? And the ability allows you to drop a token.

As for what I am flying - after not playing since August, I finally got to play two games. One was

100 points

39 points
• Poe Dameron (PS8 Version)
T-70 X-Wing
title.png Black One
astromech.png BB-8
talent.png Push the Limit
modification.png Autothrusters
61 points
• Rey
YT-1300
talent.png Push the Limit
crew.png Finn
crew.png Kanan Jarrus
title.png Millennium Falcon (Segnor's Loop Version)
modification.png Engine Upgrade

Where I forgot, that Black One can apply for other ships as well. I really want to try this against stuff that is PS9+...

And second with roughly the same set up, but Poe was PS 9 and Rey had Kyle, instead of Finn. Don't remember other changes.

This was the second and third time I have ever flown Poe. Went well against Dual Firespray and Bossk+Manaroo.

The current "TIE/fo All-stars":

  • Omega Leader - Juke, Comms Relay, Stealth Device
  • Omega Ace - Push The Limit, Pattern Analyser, Twin Ion Engines Mk.II
  • Zeta Leader - Wired, Weapons Guidance, Twin Ion Engines Mk.II
  • Zeta Ace - Wired, Primed Thrusters
  • 2 Point Initiative Bid

I'm just waiting for the striker and upsilon to come out as I want to try a Swarm Leader Omega Ace (the idea of landing a string of 5 criticals on something is deeply pleasing).

Each token is a separate opportunity to trigger his ability.

My current list of choice is 2 Ion Scyks and 2 PS5 Fangs with title and ATs, all with Mindlink. It's doing me OK so far, but it needs a lot more practice. It's surprisingly twitchy to get right because of the complexities of handling the movement order. The ion cannons are actually really useful against Defenders and against PTLers, especially Norra.

I've also been running one of each of those with Ketsu with mindlink, dengar, EU, title, which does horrible, horrible things to defenders.

Once the Oopsie drops I'm going to be moving to RAC/Ren ad possibly, depending on the dial and my wallet, 3 Oopsies with FCS and Hypercomm, one of which is Dormitz.

Ability doesn't say discard ONE stress token, but discard token you just received. You should treat tokens separately.

Edit: too late :)

Nien is in my squad for tonight...

AHhYcwY.jpg

That's hell of a squad. Not Tier1 for sure, but I can imagine will be both a real pain in the arse to play against and fun to play itself.

Speaking of Rage and Nien Nunb...I've thought about his fun Rebel Raging list below.

Nien Nunb : Rage, R3-A2, Autothrusters, Pattern Analyzer - 36 pts

Keyan Farlander : Rage, Advanced Sensors, BWing/E2, Inspiring Recruit - 35 pts

Cassian Andor : Adaptability, Collision Detector, Inspiring Recruit, Hera Syndulla, Pivot Wing - 29 pts

Original variation didn't have crew in BWing and had Rage also on Cassian instead of Adaptability, but I'd like to Rage every turn without hesitation and clear it all for next turn and it's just more difficult to do with Cassian also raging.

We were proxying some Wave 10 upgrades at my FLGS last night, and I really enjoyed flying the list below. It also won all four of the games I played with it, which has made me reassess my initially underwhelmed impression of Lightweight Frame...

This looks pretty solid.

What types of lists did you go up against with this?

We ran into something extremely similar to that list in the UK Team Championships and it wrecked us up. I don't think it's, like... GREAT, but it's better than it first looks.
