Pelta or ArKittens - In previews, who do you think "won"?

By IceQube MkII, in Star Wars: Armada

Arquitens. Naked with Vader FTW.

Add in EA and ur golden shooting 4 rerollable reds at range
Too expensive. I would go with def liason trick and just spam CF for the same effect.

Or do both and have 5 rerollable reds at range! Take that Ackbar!

Yes, yes. Please CF span and fly straight because you can't do anything else. Don't worry, I'll catch you softly and put you into an eternal slumber my precious Arquitens...

But really, I never see this ship actually using a CF because you need the Nav to move. This ship would do wonders with Ozzel though.

It has 2 clicks of Nav, much like an Assault Frigate although stacked at the end. I have no problem strafing at long range with those.

I genuinely dig it. I definitely don't get the hate.

Exactly. If they're predictable, that's fine. They're for boxing in a threat, not chasing it down.

People are really not happy about the movement chart. But like someone else said, at speed 3 (and 2 for that matter), it has the same yaw as an ISD, just different disbursement.

Right. They will be great at ganging up on something with another of your ships. I might try them with Slaved Turrets in a Vader fleet. Otherwise it would be TRC+Needa or DTTs.

It's a new thing that isn't exactly like an old thing

One fun one is speed 2 jerry ET's off a nav. 2-2-2 speed three.

Becomes 2-1-2-2 speed 4 if you nav up to 3. How much yaw do we really need?

Seems silly. Lots of ways around it if you really hate it.

Just fly in circles blasting anything that comes near.

UNLIMITED YAW!!!!!

The Nav chart actually really works with the role IMO. As a flanker/boxer/strafer it shouldn't really be difficult to maneuver with the last two extra clicks.

Now don't get me wrong, I love the thing and I'm currently trying to talk myself out of buying 3 instead of two, its just frustrating to see people complaining that the rebels got so much more and they're saying the Arq isn't as good as they wanted it to be.

I love the idea of having one Arq flying on each side of an ISD-II.

Pick your poison. Fly straight into the ISD, or try to go around and run into an Arq and maybe some tie defenders?

I also think I'll be running those dual turbolasers on my Liberty...and other turbolaser filled in to taste.

Yeah. This is a "haters gonna hate" thing. I'm super pumped about the new role the Empire has, but the Pelta is a nice new addition to the Rebels. It's a bit premature to notch either of these as bad ships. I think they will fit into their roles nicely.

What I will say about the Arq is that its package of upgrades gives everybody (including stupid Home One :) ) a lot of new flexibility. So nice.

I'm primarily rebel and I'm buying two cause I think they're awesome

Pelta in sheer power, Arquitens in upgrade cards.

How is the hate for the Arq any different from the hate for the VSD or Raider?

Yes, I am disappointed in the Arq speed chart. But I know there are a lot of people who claim the Raider is the worst ship in the game, and people will fight with the same passion saying it is the best AA platform. Same for the VSD. I love the Vic-II. Such a fun ship to play, but people look at it like a monstrosity. At regionals, I was called brace for running dual Vic-II. In fact, I was the only one to run a VSD.

So yes, I can say I am disappointed in the Arq. The upgrades are absolutely fantastic. The ship is meh IMO. But that should not sway anyone from buying 4 if they love the ship.

True, but only half of navigation revolves around positioning for attacks. The other 1/2 revolves around dodging ships/obstacles/squads, pursuing objectives, and avoiding flying off the map. The base Arquitens move chart is terrible at all of these. Yes, with Engine Techs and JerJerrod and Nav command it's good, but every ship can do the same or better well with the correct upgrades, even the VSD. For a small ship with a max speed of 3 it has a limiting maneuver chart that must be heavily managed every time you activate it.

I do like the comparison of the Arquitens to the Neb, instead of comparing it to the CR90. Maybe it has 2 really great titles??

Yea maybe the titles could provide some more maneuverability. But FFG doesn't want to spoil the fun.

Also, the Arq is GREAT with Jonus. That's what I'm excited for.

@Undead it's just mostly irritating that people will never be satisfied with what they get and then say the other side is too powerful. Its just frustrating is all.

No different. :) Folks want a speed four ship with two clicks at every notch that chucks 8 dice out of every arc on a small base with 12 shields and 10 hull for 45 fleet points. Ain't gonna happen.

Every ship has its pros and cons. I love all of the toys (really, even the rebel scum ones.)

BUT. I'll move on past complaining about the people complaining and start building my double to triple arquiten list with Vader as an admiral and Jonus. And maybe an ISD 1 with an ECM.

The imps know that nav team exists right?

I dunno, I can't decide who won anymore without a rap battle.

I'm going Helter... Skelter... Sato's Pelta...

Can't wait fo' my mittens on dem Arkittens...

Gotta Navigate, gotta make haste...

Droppin' bombs on yo' Starkiller Base!
