Arquitens Preview

Can you rock two blast doors on a ship with two defensive retrofit slots? I'm not sure if there can be any besides the arquitens at this point, but I'm curious.

No.

FAQ Eratta says you cannot equip the same Upgrade Twice.

And there is. Natively.

The MC80 Assault Cruiser has Double Defensive Retrofit slots.

Besides, while Blast Doors are good, as noted, they aren't THAT amazing. Most of the time, ECM is going to be the better choice for that slot.

Now, combining ECM and Blast Doors? Well...there ya go...

I see what you did there.

I like it. I want two or three of them with DTTs for steady firepower to augment the rest of my list. That's anything from paired GSDs in brawling range of their targets to a Tua-holding ISD-I backing a fighter cloud, to Tua again on a VSD waiting to get into range.

I don't feel that these upgrades help the VSD. Tua can help one key VSD in your list, which is enough to keep the ship viable. However I was hoping to have a reason to pack multiple VSDs with a single upgrade and the ARQ pack doesn't provide that for multiple ships. Not even Jerjerrod, whom I feel does more for ARQs moving and GSDs getting hairpin turns. A lone VSD-I with Tua and Jerjerrod is probably workable with ARQs to funnel targets closer to the VSD, but I'll need to see if opponents fall for that.

The Pelta has a lot of things going for it, but I feel the ARQ is, at least, a nice and steady addition to the Imperial navy. I don't feel it's as conditional as the Raider is for success. The ARQ's natural environment is long range, which before now the Empire had to buy expensive VSDs and ISDs to fight at this distance (or use Rhymerbombers). No longer.

Vader, ISD-I, 3x Arquitens, 2x Raider I (one with Instigator). Full stop.

Why Instigator? A cheap meat to delay bombers for a round? Keep in mind that squadrons can still attack non-Instigator ship, they only thing they can't do is move.

It's to spread the bombing threat. I hold back Instigator until some of the enemy bombers are activated. Then Instigator jumps in preventing the second bomber activation from hitting the same target. I went to two Raiders because I felt like the TIEs were really just becoming a points sink that didn't do anything for me if I didn't have a significant bombing threat to worry about. The Raiders are completely expendable against a large bombing force. They're there to make sure the ISD hits home.

I've got to re-think this whole thing for a bit before I am willing to accept they made Demo stronger. They won't even be too scared to get in to the ISD's main arc now.

You're forgetting that now it's much harder for Demo to kill someone with a triple-tap.

How do you figure?

Motti ISDs with Reinforced Blast Doors...

I just barfed all over the counter at my job (slow day, ya know)

And Minister Tua to give you deffensive such as ECMs or APs

I'm loving all the hate for this ship. Gonna make it so much fun to use. Time to finalize my Imperial build featuring the Island of Misfit toys...

Ikr...the only way it could be bad would have been:

Speed

:P

It's a broadsider. You can track using II Yaw. I will be buying 2 first day and seeing how we go from there.

I'm suprised about the lack of Pelta salt tbh.

With the doors they'll be able to remove three cards after that first tap. It will be VERY difficult to triple tap an ISD or MC80 with those installed.

Reinforced blast doors can discard 3 damage between last attack in the round and first attack in the next round.

Oh I think its a truck load of donkey **** but I'm trying to stay positive because I'm sure someone smarter will find some super amazing combo involving it and it won't just end up in the dustbin like everyone's 3rd Neb.

I think the Pelta is okay, but not fantastic, nice to have a cheap 3 squadron ship.

I am really surprised by the negative feels toward the Arq. Maybe the imperials players are just allergic to side arc ships that are amazing.

I didn't really have high expectations for the Arquitens as I thought it would really be a filler ship. Instead, we have an amazing little addition to the Imperial fleet. Heck, I have to get a few of these guys just to get multiples of the Reinforced Blast Doors alone.

it already is difficult to do that.

also a first last triple tap wont be affected correct?

isn't it upon activation of the ship equipped with them?

At The Start Of The Ship Phase.

It is not dependant on Activation at all...

It will totally interrupt and disrupt a Demolisher Triple-Tap.

I'm really happy with the timing on that card. May we never again see the days of 40 pt bids for first.

Yep. I firmly believe this is a nail in the Opening Salvo Demolisher threat's coffin... I mean, it will still have its uses - but the number and variety of ships that will just survive that triple tap now just got a LOT wider....

It's better than a Raider, but I'm not too impressed with it. If it had a brace I'd be sold.

Am I the only one questioning why that hallway has so many doors?

I'm really happy with this pack. Some great game changing cards and a great ship for Imps. What we have here is a genuine flexible combat ship that is cheap enough to field but which doesn't become an easy kill immediately after being committed like the Raider.

I really like the two variants also. You have the basic combat ship or the wider options presented by the command version. They did this with the Pelta as well and I think its a great move.

I'm actually thinking this may be a ship that finally shows some great use of Tarkin. It can carry two tokens, and Eng is good (token is worth a shield), CF is good and Nav is good.

I like it. Speaking as someone who has a serious grá for running lists with ridiculous elements, like 4 Raiders, it kind of fits my style of play. It's also nice to have a cheap side arc with some reach (albeit at the cost of an abysmal front arc). I like the idea of just Needa and TRC on one, and DTT on another. I don't think they're going to backbone many lists, but I can see them folding quite neatly into a lot of compositions.

Im still shocked the Light Cruiser doesn't have a Support Team upgrade. Not sure I can justify paying 59 for the command variant. Time will tell.

Yeah I'm digging Tarkin right now, current Wv 4 bomber list running him. Seeing as I want to throw Jonus into enemy ships before shooting them with Demo/Arqu/Warlord. Tarkin is a solid choice to proc him off a non carrier. Also good for Tau/ECM given you give up Vet Cap/Arekso/Wulf so your Interdictor/other Tau ship starts with an Eng token and doesn't need specfic turn order/initative to get it.

I guess it's weird then that I consider that slot worth the 5pts alone... I mean hell, if nothing else: pocket medic.

So they can reinforce them.
