Playing Xwing miniatures on your phone.

By JJFDVORAK, in X-Wing

Is there an app that lets you play Xwing on your phone? Either with friends or just AI so you can play yourself? I really hope there is. Any info would be most appreciated.

There is Squadron Benchmark online and it should work for mobile as long as you have a smartphone, its not an app though. The AI is pretty lackluster most of the time, so I end up using it to practice opening moves/deployments and such. Give the AI 4 naked decimators or like 8 TLT y wings though, and you can have a decently competitive game.

Silly rabbit, smartphones are for squadbuilding.

love Squadron Benchmark but can't recommend it on anything less than a 9" tablet. Requires too much real estate and the controls are too small to try and use on a phone.

The space battles in Bounty Stars are fantastic, with similarities to X-wing. The rest of the game was garbage, and there is no function to create a new game.

Oh dear god. I think I'm now addicted to that on my iPad....

Yeah Squadron Benchmark is great, but the AI is dodgy. I still play the hell out of it though.

Some lists it can run really well, and these are usually the simpler ones like Thug Life, Triple X7 Defenders. I find that the more complex lists that require lots of thought and decision making are beyond the AI however. Even a vanilla 8 TIE Swarm can be a little silly to play against when all the ships veer off like at crazy angles like I'm playing HotAC. Some things get overlooked by the AI as well and this can lead to challenging games, like when Dual IG88s get glitterstim every round...
