Very OP PbP

By avalon rises, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

It's a start. Still debating between HBR or Sidewinder repeater. If I go HBR I'll keep everything as is. If I switch to the sidewinder, I'll move all of my ranged (heavy) stuff over to gunnery.

And I still have XP to spend. :o http://swsheets.com/c/3xf14b47z-rambowkkha

EDIT: All of those attacks are upgraded 6 times with one simple aim maneuver. So the main autofire attack will be PPPPPPPPPBDDD at Medium range using double or nothing. Hahaha

I'll just throw out my two bits, noting that they're probably out of place in a deliberately overpowered game. Specifically ss GM I don't allow autofire to be combined with any kind of "aiming" (no aiming, no precise aim, no true aim) because it's narratively nonsensical.
Hu, that never crossed my mind Elias. For me Aiming isn't always looking down a scope, it's just a way of describing the character dedicating more of their time to pointing the weapon at the enemy. It's the bonus of focusing on a task rather than letting other things, like moving or opening a door, distract you.

Of course I think of autofire as "spray and pray" and "accuracy through volume"

Correct Mister Windrider. The goal of this game is to exploit the raw. You are quite… Perceptive.

But in all seriousness, thats a very good reason. I'll have to think about that.

To my way of thinking, even with that interpretation it would only apply to the first bullet/blaster bolt to leave the barrel, and the rest would be randomized by recoil which would undo the attention to detail (i.e. randomnize the details). Now admittedly, this line of conversation is pretty irrelevant to this thread because the point of the game is to exploit whatever the RAW allows with Uber characters.

As someone who has fired auto-fire weapons, in real life, I can qualitatively say, you nailed it. Weapons on Auto-fire are typically used for suppression fire as opposed to direct aimed fire. Unless the weapon is mounted to a tripod, there's just too much recoil to keep it perfectly aimed on a specific target. Guns like the M-60 (which I used in the Army), are usually used to cover a field of fire to take out larger numbers of enemies within a given "corridor" and/or keep them pinned down.

So, are we ready?

Not yet at least for me I've been too busy to move the sheet online yet. Hopefully I find the time this weekend.

*nod*

Just got home from Rogue One. Aiming with Autofire confirmed as canon.

Damm. I have “… reached your quota of positive votes for the day”, so I literally cannot like this post enough!

I'm seeing it tomorrow. Waiting is hard. :(

I'm seeing it tomorrow. Waiting is hard. :(

I'd already purchased tix to a Wednesday lunchtime showing with some of the guys from my game group. I realized Saturday afternoon that I would explode if I didn't see it sooner so I went to a late Sunday night showing after the wife and kids were in bed.

Meet IG-800 Droid Hired Gun. http://swsheets.com/c/cro5y9amh-ig-800

That took longer than it should sorry bout that. I've got a Character sheet in paper with all the descriptions of the talents and such so I didn't feel like writing it all up.

As it is three days until christmas, shall we delay the start of this game just a few more games till Jan 1?( I will try to post at exactly midnight. :D :D :D :D :D )

Fine with me.

Sounds good then.

So we're all gun bunnies then? Not a social character in the bunch? Or a brain? We're going to have problems.

I'm surprised none of you made a Makashi Dualist/Advisor/Seer, a Vicious Crit 1 Double Bladed Saber, High presence. Character can roll 4 Force Dice to add +10 to every Crit from the attack (at least 2) plus 10 to one for every additional Advantage. It's actually frightening how easy it is to add 150 to a Crit

I had a social character. Blame Shlambate. ;)

Screw social. This party talks with their guns.

I have been getting an impression that it's mostly supposed to be testing the combat and combat-adjacent portions of the system.

And Gralrrua resents the idea she talks with her gun. She doesn't even have a gun! She talks with her pretty-much-lightsaber-quality fists. ^_^

Okay. Here's my character draft: All characteristics 5, all skills except Medicine 5, 4 ranks in toughened, three ranks in enduring, 5 ranks in grit, and 3 ranks in deadly accuracy, as well as all the talents that I have to buy to reach the above listed ones. That and all the big, heavy disintegrator weapons with autofire ;)

I find the idea of this PBP incredibly entertaining. For funsies I decided to see if I could put together an even more broken PC than the ones in the campaign. This Hunter-based build adds seven Force dice to his attack rolls with a Jury-Rigged light repeating blaster. That's up to 14 extra advantage for 14 extra hits!

He also adds those 7 dice to all his initiative rolls.

Please forgive the thread necro, but did this ever go anywhere? I would be very interested in reading or hearing about how this went down.
