Custom Ship Idea - Droid TIE Fighter (The original TIE/D)

And besides what does stress do? Keeps you from doing red moves and keeps you from doing actions. If the TIE Droid has no red moves, there's no downside to having stress there. If they have only a couple of actions, there's barely an affect there as well. Stress has indeed become a huge part of the meta and it would make the game more interesting to have a hard counter to stress builds.

Ok but its a machine so please don't let it focus.

Lists of stuff to do just all of them get complicated quickly.

I wasn't suggesting having any specific 'list'. Just give it a white talon roll. you still pick up (and shed) stress tokens normally, but between two systems slots and a white 'about face' you have means to deal with having them without it affecting you within the existing rules.

Agreed. But - assume it's got a white talon roll, so there's no red on the dial, and you use a systems slot for a fire control system, so you don't need actions to target lock - at that point is there really a need to specifically make it immune to stress?

There are already builds which don't give a **** about stress tokens, but complete immunity - red moves, actions, and stress-triggered effects (like slicer tools and latts razzi) are three separate, and partially independent game elements, and immunity to all of them as a basic rule is a bit harsh.

I wasn't going to. Giving it evade and target lock, rather than focus, means it's less flexible and has to choose between attack and evasion.

You have to weigh the stress immunity against what the fighter lacks. We're talking no innate pilot abilities, rock bottom PS, and no focus. Game mechanics dictate that it has to cost at least 12 points and it needs something to really differentiate it from a TIE Striker or Fighter. Every successful ship has its special niche in the game. Something that makes it fill a special role that others can't. Just giving it a white T-Roll or a System upgrade isn't going to make it stand out and the lack of pilot skills exacerbates the issue.

So a few abilities might be hard countered by it? Determination totally negates Kylo Ren. Lord knows how many ability Biggs could hijack before he was nerfed. Keyan Farlander laughs at Mara Jade and other stress producing abilities.

If the TIE Droid had abilities that negated 1-2 upgrades out of the hundreds, it wouldn't be a game breaking mechanic.
