Emergency Medpac and when to use it

By damnitjeff, in Imperial Assault Rules Questions

So we were playing last night and we got into a situation where we were on the last round of the game. we had 3 guys who were pretty badly wounded and needed to heal, problem was that we needed to use our moves to interact with one of the terminals.

long story short, we ended up dying and failing the mission.

here is what happened and the question about the medpac.

in order:

1. ally rested (some damage)

2. ally stressed to move one spot

3. ally interacts with supply crate and receives "emergency medpac"

question is: can he use it?

we ended up not allowing it because we werent sure if it was allowed or not. my vote was on YES because the medpac doesnt specify that IT has to be used immedietly after resting and the ally was still in his turn.

Allies can't interact with crates and also can't take strain for movement paints (because they don't have endurance). Strain suffered by non-heroes is taken as damage instead.

See above. Only heroes can interact with crates or suffer strain to gain movement points. Also, only heroes can Rest.

However, if you meant a hero, then the answer is: "after you rest" has an implied immediately in there. If you perform anything else, you have missed the trigger.

See also this thread, which explains it in more detail https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/190064-action-question-bacta-infusion/

(Also, non-heroes do not have Endurance, so even if they could rest, they would not recover strain. Non-heroes cannot recover strain. And only heroes recover damage for each strain they did not recover.)

By "Ally" do you mean figures with deployment cards allies like Han Solo, Chewie or those big sheets heroes like Diala, Gideon, Gaarkhan?

Allies can't rest since they have no strain. I'll assume you meant a rebel hero

The trigger to use the medpac is "after you rest", so you'd have already missed the timing window. Almost every card have a very specific timing window. Your logic makes sense if the card says "during your activation..."

Easy way to think about it: You may use it after you rest, but did you rest? No, you interacted.

right i meant Heroes sorry. Still getting used to the lingo :)

i had posted this thread and it wasnt approved for a bit so its just came up, A1bert was kind enough to already answer this for me. :)
