Hi all,
I made a video about a list I wanted to try that featured an IG-88c with no IG-2000 title. Whilst coming up with the list I got to thinking about the Agressor and the various IGs and if they would have been a good ship without the title.
I honestly think that they are a solid platfrom and whilst they are obviously more powerful when passing abilities around for free (or 1 point with IGd Crew) that there could be overlooked if you are not looking to take advantage of that title.
What do you guys think?
Kris
If the IG-2000 title didn't exist would you fly an IG?
I've flown ig88c as a pair to Ventress (no ig88d crew). It was pretty ok, and the ig88s are solid ships without the title. They do run into the issue of being easily dodged/blocked/stressed/dealt with but that's unrelated to the title and depends on player skill to some degree.
88B works great as a standalone. The rest are more questionable.
I've flown IG-88B with an M3-A and three Headhunters to good effect where it became more of a support ship.
Aggressor (IG-88B) (36)[46]
- Veteran Instincts (1)
- Fire Control System (2)
- Tractor Beam (1)
- "Mangler" Cannon (4)
- Autothruster (2)
M3-A (Cartel Spacer) (14)[17]
- "Heavy Scyk" (2)
|- Tractor Beam (1)
Z-95 Headhunter (Binayre Pirate) (12)[12]
Z-95 Headhunter (Binayre Pirate) (12)[12]
Z-95 Headhunter (Binayre Pirate) (12)[12]
TOTAL = 99/100pts.
The idea is to have IG-88 tractor beam the target into bad positions infront of my small ships as -1 defense makes their 2 attack suddenly more threatening and if they spend their tokens trying to avoid it then he has another shot with a target lock. After that the M3-A can either tank their defense again or take a normal shot.
Might be a tad expensive, but plenty of people have had luck running them with Boba, mindlinked Scyk swarms, or some other heavy hitters. B is the most obvious choice, but C (especially with Swarm Leader coming) has a place as well. Of course, IG88D crew makes it tempting to find a way to get that title back in there...
Find a way to get a crew slot on there and it would still be a popular ship at 8 more points with no title.
I highly enjoyed flying Boba & Iggy.
So far I only have 1 IG, so yes? 88B and a pair of Ys or HWKs has been pretty fun, or with 88 crew + Moralo.
Edited by AugustineSAs some others have said B holds his own the best. I took IG B and Boba to a regional win in '15th. I think subbing in other ships helps cover the few weaknesses that the IGs have.
I took 2nd Swiss in Sacramento last year with IG-B and Boba, and it was very potent. A well-flown Aggressor was still riding the edge of high power, and it paired very well with Scum Boba's get-in-and-brawl style.
Nowadays, even with IG-2000, the Aggressor is only "good." It takes really good flying and zero dice-flameouts to perform with them up to the needs of a big tournament.
So, no, nowadays I wouldn't fly an Aggressor except in pairs, with the IG-2000 title.
I ran B with some Ion Y's one time and it was OK. Not what I'd take to worlds if I ever went, but definitely playable.
I actually have NEVER flown the aggressor with a twin. I started flying it with 4 z-95's, then switched it up to 2 starvipers. Flew it last with 3 khiraxz, which beat a party bus/torp scouts list pre-nerf.
I ran an IGB with Dengar successfully for a very brief period before uboats became ubiquitous.
I would be happy to pair it with any of the other large base scum ships in a two build list.
I'll have to admit that I have two of them, but I've never actually flown either of them. I was really into the Xizor and Z-95 build when they came out, but got so sick of seeing Bro Bots EVERYWHERE that I just didn't want to play them. I should probably break them out as they aren't seen on tables much anymore.
I bought an Aggressor anticipating pairing it with the Shadowcaster and the 88 crew card but the wording of the card doesn't reciprocate back to the Shadowcaster. I may get around to buying a Shadowcaster, or even another Aggressor, but I've enjoyed a single 88B mindlinked with other S&V ships. It's nice to have a Scum ship that can take some hits before falling into the critical hit zone.
I had good time with 88B, Palob and a Fearless Fenn:
as well as 88B, Palob and Kavil
Yup. I bought one when it came out and I've been flying it by itself (although sometimes with the title, just for kicks) ever since.
but got so sick of seeing Bro Bots EVERYWHERE that I just didn't want to play them. I should probably break them out as they aren't seen on tables much anymore.
That happened at my local store as well, we got so sick of seeing BroBots that we straight up told the people who were playing them exclusively to try playing something else. After that we saw no BroBot lists for half a year, then we recovered from our hatred of seeing the list all the time and it's now back in moderation which we're fine with (it was the only list these few players ran every week, now they're trying a variety of things and when they do bring BroBots we're ok with it now).
IggyB is fine, but the rest i think are a tad pricy for what they do w/o the title.
Which is kinda the point. If all of their abilities were as good as B's, the double Iggy lists would be nuts.
If Dengar wasnt a thing i wish the crew would work exactly as the title, but Dengar prevents that (give an Iggy his ability...yeah no)
