Actions containing attacks

By Scharpes, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hi there,

I am referring to actions containing attacks, not standard attack actions, e.g. "sweep".

Its clear that OL cant use those with, e.g., "frenzy". But what about "flurry"? I dont see any restriction here.

On a side note, what about hero skills: Can the apothecary exhaust "bottled courage" and use "concotion" as attack?

Following the same logic, the hero is allowed to perform an additional attack, not just an attack action.

Thanks for clarifying!

You can Sweep and then use flurry to follow up with a regular attack. You CANNOT Sweep, and then use flurry to follow up with another Sweep (nor can you start with a regular attack, then use flurry to sweep). All flurry (or frenzy) grant is a vanilla, plain old attack. The same goes for bottled courage. The only thing special about the attack you perform there is what's on the skill card (the elixir token benefits and the fact that it doesn't cost an action).

As always, thanks Zaltyre.

I must say it doesnt help that the wording for Frenzy is straightforward while the other cards only speak of "attacks".

So could we say, as a general rule, that there is no card/skill atm that allows for an additional "special" attack? Or am I overseeing something?

That's pretty accurate. Just about every ability that allows an extra attack allows a standard attack only (or a standard attack with a slight modification, such as the green die on Flurry). The only examples I can think of that could grant an extra "special" attack are things like Rylan Olliven's "Influence" that grants an additional action of the controlling player's choice.
